What is your line in the sand?

I have been wondering, what, if anything, would turn you off from Disney for future vacations?

For some it was FP, removing performers from Epcot, the huge rise in prices not in line with inflation; rude CM's etc.

While reading the boards I see many "Fine, dont come back, less people for me to deal with" comments that get under my skin.

Everyones reasons and "lines in the sand" are different for different reasons.

So, what is the one change Disney could make that would send you over the edge?

I really think tiered levels of fast passes and operating hours per hotel category would bother me. (and i think it will happen) . For example, 6 fp plus one hr early for deluxe only. Before you say Universal does it, I already know that and I think implementation at Disney would be much different

For me, loss of EMH would be a biggy, but the real thing that would stop me going is the price. I'm nearly at my price limit now, so it'll only take another price hike and I'm priced out of the market. I love WDW so it's a shame I won't be able to keep coming for years to come.

not sure if it is stirring the pot, but if it is i really dont give a flying fig.

As you can see i only have 45 posts since January. I dont live on these boards to know enough about what riles people up, but if that question riles people up, so be it. Im genuinely interested, and others may be as well.

For us, it comes down to cost. When it stops becoming a vacation we enjoy more than others in the same price range, we will stop going. I can do Disney for about $4000 for a full week at a deluxe resort. A week at the beach that is driveable from my house costs me between $2000 - $3000. The difference is, the cost me of going to the beach for a week hasn't seen the same price increases that Disney has.

That being said, we are not a Disney only family. Yes, we go to Disney at least once a year, but we travel many other places and have a few on the books for upcoming years (Hawaii, Eastern Caribbean Cruise).

I would say the next logical step for us would be to dramatically cut down our time at Disney before we just stop going. Maybe a long weekend or a couple of days rather than two full weeks at different times of the year.

For us it is a combination of several of the things the OP listed. And that line is inches away, right now. Our upcoming trip could be the tipping point. If MDE and FP+ negatively affect our vacation, in addition to the already exorbitant prices and decreasing quality of the park experience, then we will be done with WDW. There are just too many other places in the world where I can have a fun and relaxing vacation without the hassle.

:rotfl: Good for you.

OK to answer your question for ME the line has been crossed with on site VS off site windows for FP+ Been going for over 30 years. We will always go to WDW, we just do it differently.

Enjoy character meals at resorts, MNSSHP, and this year MVMCP ( first time in decades ) did not renew AP and won't until the FP+ playing field is leveled. If it remains as is, well we will still get our Mouse & Pluto fix the way I said.

We're the same way. I can't give you the one specific thing that Disney could do that would keep us from going back, but we are slowly inching towards that point. I'm not liking the constant planning that I feel I'm doing. In the past, I was always planning, as well, but it was more exciting planning. Back then, we were planning what all we were going to get to do, where we wanted to eat, where we wanted to stay, and how we wanted to tour each park. Now, planning feels different. It almost feels like if I don't do all of this planning, I will have almost zero chance at certain rides. Then, it feels like once we have planned our dining and what attractions we want for FP+, Disney is going to tell me how to tour the parks since I won't have as much freedom in when I pull fast passes for certain attractions. I don't really care for that. And, due to FP+, there is less reason for me to be in the park from rope drop to closing because I'm not going to want to stand in long lines. This means I'm not getting as much bang for my buck anymore. that's a problem. If it continues, I will increasingly feel as though I am paying more money for less experience and we will stop going.

we are currently in the same position. We are still going, but less days (only 2 this past vacation)

They'd probably really have to screw AP holders for me to not go anymore. That or not offering the military promotion anymore (before anyone freaks on me, I know it is generous and not deserved, but without it, it's too expensive for my husband and I to go as much as we do). I'd still probably go, just way less, if either of these happened.

I love FP+, it suits our touring style.
I love that on-site guest get preferential treatment.
CM's and guest services have been fantastic!
I am not wealthy by any means, but I do not think Disney is too expensive.
I can't wait to see the results of all the recent construction.

I love what Disney has been doing, so for me, there is no line in sight. :thumbsup2

Im glad that all the changes have been beneficial for you. But I only give those as examples.

Can you think of anything that would change your mind? All those changes were good with you, and that is a wonderful thing. But they pushed a lot of people too far. Obviously they didnt push me completely over the edge, i still go, just less. I also added Universal this last trip. So my touring has changed.

I truly am very curious.

Other examples (would these bother you?) These are all just brainstorming (Disney please dont get any ideas)
1. 25-50% upcharge for MK
2. Discontinuation of Annual pass (i have no bias in this, not an AP holder)
3. Charging admission fee for 1 yr old and up.

We just got back from our second trip with the kids. This was our last trip for a LONG time. It's the price. We are a family of five that also needs to add the cost of a flight in. It's just not something we can afford to do every year.

Cost. Knowing that we could go to Europe or South America for (oftentimes) the same price irks me a bit. If it becomes too cost prohibitive it might be just a once in a great great while treat.

But in terms of service and decision-making, we were on the Fantasy in Hurricane Sandy and after a death-defying night Disney gave us only 25% off another cruise. It fell short of expectations, especially after a night sitting in the lobby thinking we might be in the water at any moment BECAUSE of their decision making. They wanted to push up the coast to get back to port. It was a decision based on their schedule and finances, not the safety and comfort of passengers.

And after all of that, GUESS WHAT WE DID LAST FEBRUARY. I'll never cruise in hurricane season again, but I gladly used my 25% off for a Western Caribbean Cruise and we had a great time. So maybe if I HAD actually died I wouldn't go back again? HA!

My line in the sand would be prices. It is already an undertaking for us to plan a trip and we always stay at the Values!

LOL its definitely hard to give up.

I haven't experienced anything yet that would cause me to even momentarily second guess a trip to Disney. On trips of at least a week we do go to Universal as well. My friend and I are a couple of Potterheads and the Spider-Man ride is one of my faves.

If they stopped doing runDisney events, or had a massive increase in price for them, I would definitely cut the trips to Disney back to once every couple of years. We're also big fans of the dining plan (I know a lot of people aren't, or don't see the value in it, but I make it work for us and it's just one less thing to worry about) and if they got rid of that it would definitely give me pause. Neither of these are the actual lines in the sand, but they'd push me right up to the line and it probably at that point wouldn't take much to knock me across.

For us it was FP+, along with price increases. Went last Jan, got caught in the POP test using FP+ only; found ourselves bored waiting for FP+ windows to open up while SB lines were too long to get through. Along with everything else mentioned, this was our line in the sand. May be back eventually, but many things would have to change. Just my 2 cents.

They really are getting crazy. We bought a 10 pack non expiring pack 3 years ago because we visit family once a year at least in FL. We like to be able to go over for a day or 2 without spending a fortune.

We were not going to do it again because of all the changes we are bothered by (FP was "just ok" when we stayed on site, but when deciding to drive over one day from Tampa you really look at weather, operating hrs. etc. FP just doesnt work well for that)

We decided to bit the bullet and get another ten pack since the price is only going to go up! we have 4 days left on original pack. So 14 days total, we hope that will cover the next 5-10 years.

The crazy part??? the 10 day pack for 2 people went up almost 400 dollars in 3 years. Almost vomited ;)
