Just for fun.

Looking for things about resorts I may have overlooked in my research 🧐

Many of the hotels with terraces are narrower than the norm but somehow the Contemporary’s seem more notably so from a spatial perspective. Not crazy about the public halls or rooms either.

Followed in quick succession by BC/YC. A bit too noisy for me.

On my last trip, the gleam was wiped off AKL not by any hotel deficiencies per se but more by an employee who lacked “people skills” and critical thinking. Hopefully, the memory will fade over time and I can return.

Least favorite Value: All of the All Stars but mostly Sports

Least favorite Moderate: Caribbean Beach

Least favorite Deluxe: Animal Kingdom Lodge

Overall Least favorite: Caribbean Beach

One that I've never stayed in but would not like to stay in is Caribbean Beach. To me its just way too big with too many bus stops etc. Nice for the Skyliner but I'm not one to just enjoy wandering around the resort because I'm in the parks most of the day so I just want to be able to get back to my room.

Ones I have stayed at and am not a fan of...
-Art of Animation: I stayed in a LM room and its just too much of a walk to the main building and I find the food court smells and is very loud.
-Coronado Springs (have not stayed in Gran Destino): had several things happen while staying there from them losing my luggage, to not activating my KTTWC, rude waiter, etc. And the bus Transporation was terrible.
-Grand Floridian: Not worth the price. The rooms were just OK, I didn't vibe with the atmosphere.

You didn't ask but I'll give my favorite resorts as well.
-Pop Century: love the theme, the paths are pretty direct, transportation has always been top notch!
-All Star Sports: its always the cheapest of the Values and there is nothing wrong with it so if I'm going on the cheap its my go to!
-Port Orleans Riverside: its beautiful, the rooms are nice and pretty sound proof, boat to DS, great food!
-Contemporary: monorail, relaxing, close to MK, the garden wing rooms are pretty sound proof.
-Polynesian: love the theme, love the food, close to MK, on the monorail, relaxing.

All Star Music was our first and least liked. It was what we could afford at the time. And the reason we bought DVC

Kind'a Animal Kingdom Lodge. Love the savannah. Love the theming. Love the restaurants.

Just don't love getting back the resort and feeling like the walking distance from lobby to your room is like walking from the front of MK to the back of Toon Town! My wife timed it and counted the steps. It was a lot.

Wouldn’t want to stay again at the CBR, but it was the first resort I remember as a teen. So yea, nostalgia…

There’s not a resort I’d never stay again. Unlikely to stay again? Yes. It still would depend on what kind of trip, who is going, and what the other /prices/options are.

Generally… I would not return to:

Kidani. I love Jambo House so much more at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

OKW studio - for whatever reason gave me child bedroom vibes. OKW is best for when we’re doing 1BR or 2BR.

Port Orleans - enjoyable but at the same cost I’m more likely to choose Coronado due to resort amenities, or pay more to stay at Caribbean Beach on skyliner and proximity to Riviera dining.

For values - I prefer Pop and AoA because the skyliner, aesthetics and amenities. That said, I’d still pick a All-Star if the cost difference was great enough.

Grand Floridian. I thought it was my dream resort. It wasn’t.

Things I didn’t like:
How small the rooms were
How thin the walls were
How crowded the resort is
Staying in the outer buildings, it was rainy that week
People watching us use the pool
Monorail
How long it takes to get anywhere but MK

Sports - love the theme, but too ... many young sports stars and a lack of supervision
Caribbean Beach - too big for my little legs
Ft. Wilderness - love the cabins, but too ... many allergies to be successful there
Grand Floridian - too...much.... much too much for me.

Just for fun.

Least favorites:

Deluxe:
Grand. Too expensive for what it is. I don’t like walking through bad weather to get around a resort property

Moderate:
No experience

Value:
All of them. Too expensive with little benefit for someone like me (AP who drives to property)

Least favorite deluxe is the Polynesian. It is always, always packed with people everywhere. Also, having to walk outside between buildings to get to the quick service location feels just like staying at a value, only with a much larger price tag.

Least favorite moderate: It's a toss up between CBR and POR. CBR is just huge- I'm not a fan of the internal buses just to get to the food court, pool/bar, skyliner, etc. At CBR we were uncomfortable with the entire esthetic of "mansions" vs. backwater cabins.

We don't have a "least favorite" value resort. They are all fine, especially if I am traveling solo, or we are doing a park-centric trip and just need a place to shower/sleep. In that case, ASMusic is our first choice of value, POP our last (due to size, but the skyliner is fun).

French Quarter felt very superfluous to me. It’s pretty but claustrophobically small, the food is mediocre and limited, and the boat to DS is about the only thing going for it. People tout the single bus stop but fail to mention it shares with POR midday so unless you’re only traveling at peak hours you’re going to be rolling the whole resort before getting out to a park anyway. It may actually be the most overrated resort on property to me.

In general I have a hard time seeing the point of the mods aside from CSR, because Swan and Dolphin can very often be had at a similar price point, and are superior on every conceivable metric except transportation to MK. CSR is where I’d stay if I couldn’t swing a deluxe but wanted more space/amenities than a value.
