What is your honed skill?

Do you have a honed skill? One that you spent significant time on to learn to be successful? And something you do that's not related to work would be good.

For example, I work in IT (computer data centers) but my honed skill is playing saxophone.

Writing. It's not something I do as a living, but something I would like to do eventually. I'm going to participate in this years NaNoWriMo, as well. Not sure what I'm going to write about though. Still got a couple of weeks to figure that out.

I always did well in my English classes in school because I love to read and write, but I never considered going to school to become a journalist or anything because I just didn't have the grades or the cash.

Drinking Watching TV, Disney knowledge, having kids. I had plenty of aptitude in things but never had time to practise them.

I play the drums. My dad is a drummer and I was definitely born with talent but I do need to practice quite a bit to build up stamina.

well it is sort of work related now because it is making me a little money..but I work with polymer clay and have taken classes and worked to make flowers (it is like those cookies you can slice with the picture that goes through...thin slices are used to make patterns for beads and jewlery.) this is some of my hobby/obsession

I'm a dancer (not by profession -- don't I wish!). I don't get to take classes as often as I would like, but having trained for more than half my life, it's sort of like riding a bike -- I tend to get a little rusty, but my muscles don't forget.

Well...I can identify most 80s music videos within the first few seconds, before the music even starts. My best one ever was when one started with a greyish screen, with a black line down the middle, and I said, "Hey - Bon Jovi, Livin' on a Prayer" and it was! Just from a grey screen with a line down it...

I can also tell you the album and in most cases, the year it was released.

I wish I had the time and the passion to hone something. I admire those that do.

My excuse is that I'm trying to stay balanced

I keep a journal for my son, but that doesn't actually count as being a journalist.

I scrapbook and make announcements, invitations, baby books, etc. for friends and family.

I love to cook, but that doesn't mean I'm good at it.

I've taken a few photography classes, and my mom always tells me my pics come out better than hers, lol.

I love to travel and I do tons of research beforehand, but that still doesn't make me an expert

Party Planning/Entertaining - I love planning an event -

I just got so excited yesterday as I booked DD's 6th birthday, I went right to the computer, pulled out my lists from last year - DH was looking at me like I was crazy, but secretly he's happy because he knows I haven't had much to plan since our 4th of July bash and he knows I need to plan and I've been dropping hints about a Disney trip in Dec (we just got back about 7 weeks ago) so I think he's relieved a bit. /tangent, for the heck of it I went to the Disney website and you can now book next summer's vacation on-line. a couple weeks ago, they said you could do it until Dec 31, 2006 - and you'd have to call CR - So looks like after DD's party, I get to really plan our July trip./off tangent
