What is your favorite thing about MNSSHP?

We went October 2009. What we found:

1. THE BIGGEST THING: Do NOT use this as your only day in MK. We thought we could save money by having this be our one and only MK day... wrong. We tried to do everything we would do on a normal day with the added Halloween things. I think it would be more relaxing and you could take our time to really see the decorations if you had one other day to do MK for other stuff.

2. Dress up... even though we saw people not dressed up, most of them were. ... it's too much fun to not take advantage of wearing something silly.

3. No matter the costume and even if it doesn't match.... wear comfy shoes. I saw several women who came in 2 inch heels at the opening time.... saw them again at the end of the night and they looked miserable.

4. It can still be VERY hot that time of the year. The poor kids dressed in head to toe costumes were sweating like crazy, crying and very unhappy.

We are glad we did it once. It was fun dressing up. We probably wouldn't go again though.

I would say the low crowds...we've certainly got our money's worth with how much we've got done in a 5 hour period. Though the last Halloween party we went the week of Halloween and it was certainly busier then when we've gone the first part of October.

Also, I love that Snow White is out with her 7 Dwarfs taking pictures. That is something that never happens during the day, that I know of.

The parade is awesome and the fireworks are great too. I love the atmosphere during the party...the music, the characters dressed up in costumes, the people dressed up. We just have a really great time and its one of our highlights each trip is going to the Halloween party.

DD (now 13) and I went in 2008 and it poured. We were at Disney, so we did the best we could and had fun! Riding Thunder Mountain in the rain was a blast. We spent a lot of the party riding rides and just checking it all out. Lesson #1 learned: face makeup (free at party) does run a little bit in the rain. LOL! Lesson #2 learned: ponchos are useful when it pours, but useless on the rides. (which just made it that much more fun)

Last year, we were better prepared. We waited for 40 mins for Snow White & the Dwarves. We had decided it was important for us to get the picture. DD loved the dance party with Stitch. I have never seen her that happy and having so much fun. We got some candy, which was a mix of good and not so good. The lines weren't that long either. The headless horseman is something to catch at the beginning of the parade. (he opens it and he goes by quickly) We also love the parade and all of the characters in costume. Another thing we like is they sell Glow In The Dark MNSSHP tshirts, along with special pins. They are only available during the party.

Yes, it cost extra, but it's one of DD's top 3 things she wanted to do again this year.

Also, not everyone dresses up in costume. We wore shirts I made in 2008 and last year we wore the Glow In the Dark T's from 2008. I felt sorry for the FULL fur Poohbear costume this guy was wearing last year in the 95+ degrees and 95% humidity at the party!

There are other threads on MNSSHP. Search for them and you will find more info if you need it.

The Parade!!! In front of The Hall of Presidents is the best viewing location (IMHO). You get to see the headless horseman round the curve at the beginning. Also watch for the undertakers with the shovels. Great routine very mesmerizing.
