So, tell me your favorite part of the MNSSHP experience...We are going this year for the first time. Are there any tips we need to know? The kids are 7, 9 and 13...

That's right. I hated just about everything at MNNSHP. I thought it cost too much ($274 for 4), too many lines, candy given out was lame, too crowded.

Oh, the fireworks were good but that's about it.

Just to clarify, we went on Halloween and it did fall on a Saturday night, so I guess that explains the crowds.

My kids had a great time and I would never tell them otherwise but if we ever go to Disney again, I will skip any hard ticket event.

I'll be going for my first time this year as well. I'm just excited I get an excuse to wear a costume and go into the park late at night with everything Halloween themed. :)

We went to the party two years ago and loved it so much we are going to do it twice this year!

Our favorite part was the parade by far and we didnt have a problem with crowds but we also went on a Tuesday, it was a great party for us.

We have been to past 3 years of MNSSHP party. Yes it cost money but what does not. Been to hundreds of college football games and pay a lot more. Parade is great, candy is fine, music in park area's is great, fireworks is outstanding. I guess each person has to decide if it is worth it. Kind of like going to a concert, if you like the theme and can handle the crowd you will have a great time. :dance3: We will be their again this year.

1) Dressing up the kids in costume.

2) Very short to no lines for all rides.

3) Overflowing candy!

4) Lots and lots of characters (in costume too!).

5) Awesome parade.

6) Amazing fireworks!

We love Halloween, so MNSSHP is A++++ for us! (In my 2007 trip report, I have a section devoted entirely to the MNSSHP we attended. If you have time, I invite you to take a peek :thumbsup2)

Y'all will have a blast!!! I am so jealous ;)

MNSSHP is fantastic, there is nothing not to like the lines are very short, there are all kinds or characters to meet and be sure to see the parade, by far the best Disney parade. There is so much to see and do time will fly and it will be midnight before you know it.We loved it so much we planned a trip this September so we can go again. :woohoo:

Last year when we went we did the waterpark ( or maybe down town disney) during the day and went to the park at 4:00. We learned from the previous year about the earlier entry time. I figured the cost of the party was about the same as a day pass. OK everything wasn't open past the official mnnshp time, but with 2 teenage boys what we needed open was and the lines wern't bad.

Also, the photopass people did neat things with the pictures. Definately worth it.

Does anyone know when they will put out the dates for next year? We are thinking about dates for next fall and want to make sure that there will be at least 1 night while we are there! TIA

I think the dates were released sometime in May...

Last year parties started during labor day weekend. This year the parties start on Sept 14th--

My favorite thing is definitely the parade. The first time I went I was fighting with my camera's on board flash so I didn't get the pictures I wanted, but this year I'm armed with an external flash so I'm ready!

I also love that they have (or did in 2008 anyway) someone sitting outside the Haunted Mansion telling a story, or stories, or just talking or... something. I hadn't ever been on HM at that point so I didn't even know that was special until I went on a different day and she wasn't around. I'm definitely going to pay more attention to her next year.

I'm also super psyched about getting to wear a costume, even though I can't decide what that costume is going to be. I keep going back and forth between different ones.

Do adults have to dress up? I'll be honest, I am not that big of a fan of Halloween. My DKs love it and will dress up, but you don't have to, do you?

Last year noone in my family dressed up. We still look good in the halloween pictures and still had lots of fun. You will not feel out of place in regular street clothing. If you check the stores before you leave they might have the halloween t-shirts out, that way you will be dressed for the holiday, just not is costume.

We went during our honeymoon last year and had so much fun! We loved the decorations throughout the park and how they really transform MK into a giant halloween park. In addition to the characters everywhere, viewing people's costumes, and the short wait times for rides, we just loved walking around and taking it all in. Oh, and the fireworks were the best I've seen at Disney! We loved them!
