I am thinking of calling back and adding a room location request to my reservation...

I would like to be able to walk to DTD, and I don't care about being far away from the bus stops or anything because we are going to have our car so we won't need to walk to and from the bus stops.

What is your favorite spot??

I don't know about favorite, because we've only stayed there once.....but, I can tell you my least favorite area would be the Paddocks, which happens to be where we stayed. It was NOT what I would personally consider conv, not even walking to DTD. I'm not one to obsess (sp) over my location, but I will def put in a special room req next time I stay at SSR.....I did not like the 'secluded' feel of the Paddocks during my stay last week. I think Congress Park would be much better.....esp for DTD visitors.

I'm here right now. We're in Congress Park in a 1 bedroom in the 2100 building. It's a GREAT location. The main area is a 5 minute walk to our left and DTD is a 5 minute walk to our right. I know you said that buses didn't matter but the bus stop is less than a minute away. The quiet pool is right out our back door. Highly recommend it!

We also enjoyed Congress Park - we were in the 5100 building (I think, how quickly we forget) and we enjoyed it. Our room was right by the pool for that area. It was a 5-7 minutes walk from the main building and about 10 minutes to DTD. It was so quiet, you did not even realize you were in Disney World when you woke up each morning!

Our first visit we were in the Paddock - right near that area's pool and cross the bridge to the main pool area. We liked that location too.

We have only stayed at SSR twice.

Our first stay (March '08) was in the Paddock section. We were just across the bridge, then to the left. It looked so far away on the map, but really wasn't bad at all. I timed it one day as 4 minutes 50 seconds from our room to the pool area. We had 8 teens with us, and they agreed that the location was not inconvenient at all.

Our next stay (2 weeks ago) was in the Grandstand section. I loved it here! Our building was right next to the pool, which we went to every day. It was never crowded, and there is a pool bar/drink refill station right there. We planned to also go to the main pool for swimming and drinks at some point, but never made it there in 5 days because we liked the Grandstand pool area so much. I didn't time the walk to the main area, but it was pretty short. The path to the DTD Westside walkway was pretty close as well.

I would request Grandstand if we go back to SSR (it is not our home resort so I don't know when we would return), but would not be disappointed in the Paddock again.

I like the Grandstand and Congress Park best. The pool at the grandstand is nice, and it has a pool bar, which is EXTRA nice ;) Congress park has great views of DTD. Both are close to walking paths to DTD, Congress park is closer to the marketplace and Grandstands is closer to the West side. I'm not a huge fan of the Springs because I think it is a little busy, but many people like that area as well because of its proximity to the main pool, restuarants and the boat to DTD.

Congress Park, Building 16. It's directly across from the bus stop, the quiet pool is right behind it and our room 1745 and 1645 overlooked DTD.

We really liked our stay in the Paddock section. We were just across the bridge and to the right and really liked that location. It was quiet, yet a quick walk over to the main building. It would be a bit of a hike to Downtown Disney, but we chose to take the bus there instead.

I agree with the other posters. Congress Park would be your best bet for DTD. We're at SSR right now in the Springs and we love it! It's very convenient to the main pool, the food and bus stop.

My favorite spot is for the reasons you say you do not need! We love the Grandstand area in one of the two buildings by the quiet pool. We like the building with rooms in the 8100-8400 range the best because it is close to the bus stop, it is the first bus stop to the parks and second to DTD, the quiet pool is there with a refillable mug station and it is a very short walk to the main area.

For walking to DTD though, Congress Park would be your best choice. If you choose to take a bus or the boat over, then Grandstand may be a good choice.

There is a west-side DTD path, that is closest to Grandstand, but that west side path is really only close to Cirque.

:wizard: :wizard: i have only stayed at ssr once and i am here right now...so if my opinion even counts..i like my location...i really havent formed an opinion on the place however, the springs in this front building 3800...right in front of the bus stop (i have a 5 yo DD this is great)...right across from the bus stop is what i believe is the main pool...DD is ready to go...and last but not least an okay view of DTD so I guess this seems NICE...and i got everything I requested...high floor...i didnt realize there were only 4 floors but I am on the 4th...close to bus stop...right across... so good LUCK

Congress Park will be your best bet for DTD views and walking times. We have stayed at Grandstand and loved that area too, loved the Springs too...actually we just love SSR:lovestruc We'll be back in 6 weeks:yay:

Was in room 1503 last month, the second building in from DTD, on the first floor. It was a wonderful room, highly recommended. I've been in Congress park 5 or 6 times, Paddock and Carousel 4 or 5 times each...definitely prefer Congress Park. Building 1100-1400 is the closest to Marketplace, but building 1500-1800 is only another 100 feet added to the walk, and actually has some advantages in my opinion...like being closer to the bus stop, closer to the pool, and slightly removed from the main lakefront sidewalk.

Room 1503 was great because it was on the ground floor, at one end of the building where it sits closest to the lake, and the closest point of the building to Downtown Disney's pathway. It was a 'pool/garden' view - but I personally hate actual pool view rooms as I tend to like a little more quiet and privacy - this room actually looked out towards DTD and the lake, through a lovely wooded canopy of trees, with the pool just to the right of the patio, about 50 feet off. So access to the pool was at utmost convenience, but without any of the pool noises or privacy issues. And the patio had a nice covered recess to one side that made it longer than the usual balcony patios and weather-proofed during the rain. Also, since it was at the far wing of the building, there was an exit door by the end staircase just 1 door over, meaning you didn't have to meander the hallways back to the central entrance to get in or out, and with that exit door facing the DTD walkway, it was a cinch taking that walk.

I actually preferred that room location to the lakefront DTD-view room I had at building 1100-1400, which seemed to have a bit more foottraffic walking past the rooms than the recessed 1500 wing.
