We have always stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. We really love it and have always had a wonderful time there. If I can talk the family into it, I think I would like to try something new next year. It's me, DH, DD12 and DD7. One thing I love about WL is everything is under one roof. I like the looks of the Poly, but it looks so spread out. Boardwalk looks really fun. BC/YC have the great pool. Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to stay at the CR. So many choices, what's a gal to do? I would love to here your input. :flower:

My favorite concierge (of the one's I've tried--BC, AKL and WL) was at the WL. Wonderful CMs, great appetizers, snacks my son loved, beautiful, relaxing atmosphere....we felt so pampered :cloud9: I think the sweet and responsible CMs made all the difference---plus the hot appetizers were delicious.

The GF concierge in the main building is a fortune, but it's really neat because you get to stay in the main building. It actually feels like being under one roof there, because you don't need to leave the main building, and the pool is just outside.

I would have to say BWI. The staff there is just the best and you can't beat the location. The lounge is bigger than that of the BC/YC too.

BWI is probably the one I am leaning towards the most. Where are the CL rooms located? What restaurants did you like the best there? :flower:

In order....POLY, GF, AKL, BC, YC, BWI.

Can you tell me a little bit about the Poly concierge. Where are the rooms located? Why is it your favorite? :flower:

I've had the best experiences at Beach Club. WL and Poly great, too. BWI was pretty bad, and Contemporary was the pits.

We have stayed concierge at the Polynesian, the Yacht Club and the Contemporary. While the food was best at the Yacht Club, we all preferred the Poly for the relaxed atmosphere, great lounge with big windows, and feeling like you are in the middle of the magic. :)

Why was the BWI bad?
Just curious

The Poly concierge is in the Hawaii longhouse. It is a 3 minute walk to the GCH but we hardly ever needed to go there- just to get the monorail, but mostly we took the boat/walk to the EPCOT monorail (5min)

We loved the Hawaii location because it is right next to the Volcano pool and the quiet pool. One side faces the beach and has unbelievable views of the castle. The concierge lounge is on the second floor and has 2 story glass windows overlooking the lagoon and the castle. The lounge has recently been rehabed so I am sure there are many other descriptions of the new CL but we were there in August and loved it. Staff was great and we will definitely be back!!!

I've stayed at Poly, BWI, YC, and AKL's concierge levels. My favorite would have to be the BWI. The staff were the best, the food was great and the lounge was always quiet and charming.

I am curious too. Why didn't you like BWI. Of all my choices that I was thinking about I was leaning towards BWI. :flower:

Well I think over all Polynesian is the best, then AKL, but I really love the CM's at the BWI. We also like the location of BWI at Christmas with the deluxe room for our tree.

Just having tried the BC....never again, but the Epcot resorts all share the same IPO and those CM's just can't be beat!!

LvsTnk,

What is the Deluxe room at BWI like? How does it differ form a regular concierge room? Are these rooms located on the same floor as the lounge? :flower:

It has an extra sitting area with a pullout couch, chair, and tv. They are located on the same floor as the lounge and I think other floors as well.

Thanks for the info. While I love WL, the only negative is the rooms are a bit on the small size. The BWI deluxe room sounds wonderful. The kids could spread out a little bit more. :flower:

of the various concierges we've stayed at the only one i really HATED was the 14th floor concierge at the CR.....the service was mediocre at best...

below are short reviews of each of the others we've stayed at:

RPC concierge at the GF (in the main building) - the GF is my favorite onsite resort and i adore staying in the main building.....the concierge CMs here are wonderful, the food is somewhat limited in my opinion.....but since there's a 24 hour food court at the GF and outstanding private dining, the lack of food selection in the concierge is not an issue for me.....i like the touch that a special concierge CM meets you at the entrance to escort you to concierge...

SL concierge at the GF (in the building right next to the main building) - this is nice....i prefer being in the main building, but if the RPC is full, then sugar loaf is fine.....it's still at my favorite resort (i love the GF)..

WL concierge - the WL is my second favorite resort on property....the WL concierge CMs are wonderfully nice......the new lounge is a great improvement over the old one....the food selection here is pretty good...

AKL concierge - has the nicest concierge lounge of the ones we've stayed at and the best selection of food of any of the lounges we've stayed at....
the CMs are good and but not as good as at the GF in my opinion....i love the way you check in at the AKL (you just go straight to your room and then check in at your convenience)...
however, though the concierge here is nice, i don't like the hotel....it's way too dark for my tastes (plus i live so close to africa, and have been on real safaris, that this theming doesn't do anything for me....)

YC concierge - we only stay at the YC if we want to spend time at Stormalong Bay....we usually spend a few days here, just to get in some SAB time....my main problem with all of the epcot resorts is they don't feel secluded enough for me....you have non-resort people around and i don't like that feeling....i prefer the secluded feeling of the WL (or the AKL for that matter)....however, i do love the theming and decor of the YC.....it's beautiful and the rooms are very nice...the concierge lounge, though small is also very nice....and the concierge CMs are wonderful here.....
the food selection is quite good...

BC concierge - i don't like the BC.....even though it's basically the same building as the YC, i don't like the BC theming or decor (that's what's great about WDW....something for everyone)....and when we were there i didn't particularly like the concierge CMs.......the food here is good......

CR 14th floor concierge - terrible....the CMs were substandard....the food selection was extremely limited.......the hallway carpeting was in terrible condition....i know it's been replaced now, but still, it should not have been left in that condition even for a day....it was like staying in a seedy motel....outrageous....but the worst part was the substandard service....they could offer me this concierge for free and i wouldn't stay there...

I think that's it.....we've never stayed in the BWI or Poly concierges....

If you like having everything under one roof, then I think the YC, BC, CR or AKL might be a better fit. The GF and Poly have outer buildings. The Poly's concierge level is located in Hawaii and you would need to walk outside to get to their main building for dining and the monorail. The GF has concierge in the main building and also in one of the outer lodges. Most restaurants are found inside the main building, but I think they probably have the most expensive room rates. The BWI is nice, but I'm not sure if they have any interior restaurants. There are lots of dining choices in that area, just didn't know how self contained you wanted the resort to be. You mentioned the CR and by next summer, the new 12th floor Atrium Club will be finished. They'll have all renovated rooms, plus a brand new lounge with balconies that overlook the MK. Not sure if that fits into the dates your looking at for next year. YC/BC are nice, great location between 2 parks and more self contained. The lounges are pretty small though and don't offer much in the way of a view. AKL is off the beaten path and offers something very different with their animal view rooms. If you like to be more in the middle of the magic though, this might not be a good option. You're right, too many choices and not enough vacation time.

disneyholic family and TammiMcman,

Thanks for the great info. My DH thinks I'm crazy, but one of the most favorite part of our vacations is all the research and planning I do. We just decided to go for a few days this Christmas and he laughed and said, "Well I guess you'll be on the computer 24 hours a day since we are limited on planning time." He's probably somewhat right.

TammiMcman, thanks for the wonderful info on the way some of the buildings are set up. I think we would like GF if we could stay in the main building. Out of YC/BC, which one do you prefer?

disneyholic family, thanks for the reviews of all your stays. What did you mean by at YC you have non-resort people there?

Once again thanks to everyone for all the great info. It's going to be fun planning! :flower:
