What is your favorite Patriotic Song?

For me it's Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

I prefer to keep God out of my patriotism.

And I can't imagine patriotism without including God.

This is what makes our country great.

By the way, a special thank you to your grandson for his service to our country.

For me it's Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever."

I prefer to keep God out of my patriotism.

I do too.:thumbsup2 My favorite would definitely be Woody Guthrie "This land is your Land". I love that song.

Another vote for Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land. Says it all, really.

As for patriotic songs for other lands, I am very fond of I Am Australian by the Seekers.

I was raised when we sang all of the Patriotic songs in school. I love them all but 2 of my favorites are My Country Tis of Thee and The National Hymn. The National Hymn is also called God of Our Fathers and was written for the Centennial celebration of the US Constitution.

No particular order. No particular singer. Some have already been listed. Some have not. But, here are my favorite patriotic songs.

The Star Spangled Banner
The Battle Hymn of the Republic
Dixie
O, Columbia, Gem of the Ocean
The Battle Cry of Freedom
The Ballad of the Green Berets
America the Beautiful
This Land Is Your Land
Garry Owens
God Bless America
Two Little Boys

And I can't see, why we can't enjoy the patriotic songs of other countries, so here are some of those.

Waltzing Matilda (Australia)
Loch Lomond (Scotland)
God Save the Queen (England)
A Scottish Soldier (Scotland)
Le Marseille (France)

I like the Marine Fight Song. As a kid, I used to listen to a group of guys belting the thing out and they'd yell and bang at the end where it says that the streets of heaven are guarded BY UNITED STATES MARINES.

There are so many lovely ones that are prettier and more touching that I'm a little ashamed to admit I enjoy the Marine Fight Song the most, but I do.
My second choice is This Land Your Land, This Land is My Land. I have a kids tape of Woody Guthrie singing it and many of his other patriotic songs.
We watched Arlo sing this in Epcot. We were just walking through the World Showcase and heard it and stopped to watch. "The City of New Orleans", too.

So now the thread has a Disney Connection. :)
