What is your favorite "One Hit Wonder" song?

Something About You by Level 42

"It's Raining Men" - The Weathergirls

It takes me back to my college days!

Anyone been to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland? There's an entire room devoted to one-hit wonders. You can hear songs you haven't heard for years. Everyone seems to stand in the room and laugh or shriek when a song comes on that their teens (and older.) It's so much fun!

I haven't been to the RnRHoF in a couple of years, but I love the One Hit Wonders exhibit. I think that most of my record collection is made up of these one hit wonders.

When I was purchasing records, I always bought the followup 45RPM record to all the one hit wonders. A lot of you probably remember "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum, but how many of you have heard "Canned Ham"?

Or "Venus" by The Shocking Blue. The followup was "Mighty Joe".

I've got dozens of followup flops in my record collection.

Does Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band count?

Still remember that song all over the radio the year we went to WDW and stayed at the polynesian before driving to Colonial Williamsburgh and Wash DC.

Those 2+ week car trips in the old station wagon. I wouldn't even dream of subjecting my kids to that kind of torture today.

I really like I Don't Wanna Fall in Love by Jane Child

Sadly, some of the people on some peoples' lists are not one-hit wonders by nature, although they may have only had one stand- out song on the radio. Radio makes or breaks an artist.

My favorite is "Jessie's Girl". All I have to hear is the opening music and it's stuck in my head for the rest of the day :earboy2:

I loved Seasons in the Sun!

other fav: Don't Worry...Be Happy!

"Seasons in the Sun"...

don't ask me WHY I like this morbid song, but I was around 6 or so when it came out and I loved it...I would sit in my sister's room ( a big no-no ) and listen to her stero while she was at school...

Memories!! Ah!!

Seasons in the Sun! Noooooooooooooooooooo! That song turns me into blubbering mess and makes me want to slit my wrists. Curse that song! And curse you for putting it into my head now after a successful exorcism years ago!

Good-bye my friend it's hard to.....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

;)

"On the Dark Side" - Eddie & the Cruisers aka Beaver Brown Band

Woo Hoo 1983!!::yes::

Good song, but I never thought of Level 42 as a one hit wonder probably because when they were popular we were in England and they had a lot of hits over there ;) We've got every one of their albums, my DH is a big Level 42 fan.

He's a little more than a one hit wonder, but Gerry Rafferty Baker Street is my pick.

Towncrier I KNOW CANNED HAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
