What is your Favorite Musical?

I love most musicals, but I think my favorites are West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, and Cats (we have several Rum Tum Tuggers - always on the wrong side of every door!)

As you can see from my Tickers, my avatar, my siggy, and my icon of Idina Menzel, RENT and Wicked are my favorites. :)

I also love Les Miz, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Mama Mia has to be my favorite. I've always loved Abba, but I didn't expect the musical to have such a good storyline.

It is my dream to be in a local production of that show someday before I get too old.

Does anyone know if that is available to community theaters yet?

It's really hard to choose just one, so you'll have to do with a list in no particular order, just as they pop into my head.

The Spitfire Grill
Ragtime
The Secret Garden
1776
Camelot
Pirates of Penzance
Hello, Dolly!
Sweeny Todd
The Lion King
Les Miserables
Evita
Forever Plaid

I'm sure there's more, but my mind is blank, right now!

Grease is the word!!

DD's favorite is CATS, show got to see it live a few years ago, after having memorized the video! She was 6 at the time, I think, and dressed in a cat costume for the show. :sunny:

Check out Music theater international. www.mtishows.com They license the shows that can be done regionally and in schools. Not sure if Mama Mia is on their list yet. My dd was the first Violet Beaurgard in MTI's production of Willie Wonka, problem is she will probably be 30 by the time it comes to Broadway!

My all-time favorite is Les Miserables. But, there are so many others that I love, and I'm sure I'll forget a few:

Miss Saigon
Beauty and The Beast
A Chorus Line
Into The Woods
Chicago (not so much the story line, but I love the music itself)

I know I thought of more as I was reading through the thread, but now my mind is going blank. :flower:

I loved Oklahoma. Then again, thats the only one I have ever seen. My school did it last spring.

I am going to see the tonight with a friend of mine and her boyfriend. And I get to meet MsLeFever from the DIS while I'm there!!!!! :cool1:

And it was so great to meet my very first live DISer!

My favorite musical is A Man of No Importance. Really looking forward to the movie of Rent and seeing Wicked in Pittsburgh in Feb!

RENT!!!! HURRY NOVEMBER 23 ~ can't wait to see it on the big screen. I'm just hoping I can keep from singing all the songs out loud. I love the music so much! (I'm sorry to anybody that happens to be in the same theater with me, I have a terrible voice)

*** NO DAY BUT TODAY ! ***

So glad to see so many other RENT lovers. Handsdown my fav musical. Dh and I saw in front row on Broadway during our honeymoon in 1998... the cast that is in the movie is pretty much the cast we saw on Broadway so I'm so excited to see the movie! I'm gonna be another one in the theater singing along with all the songs, so watch out!

I also very much enjoyed Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
