What is your favorite DVC resort and why?

You can walk to Downtown Disney but none of the parks.

go look at SSR - very, very fancy! for guests who love to party at PI - this is THE resort.

My favorite would be OKW - why - it is home. I also own at BWV and VWL - both are really great resorts and I do love them too...

but I have been staying at OKW since 93 - home is where the heart is - and my family/friends really love OKW. It also doesn't hurt that point wise it is low.....so I kept more points so I go more often....

BWV - Home

VWL - Love the decor (which isn't for everyone) and the access to the MK - which is still "DisneyWorld" to me.

We love VWL!!!! It is our home but we would love it even if it weren't. There is nothing like the warm glow of the fire in the fireplace and the cozy feeling when you walk in the door. My DH swears he heard a choir of angels singing the first time we walked in the lobby door(it was at Christmas time).

We also like HH. It is a nice change of pace from WDW. We are trying out BCV and SSR on our trip next month, but we will be spending most of our trip at VWL.

They are all nice, I think it just depends on your personal preferences and, as a previous poster stated, how many points you want to use.

I would have to say Boardwalk is our families favourite. Reasons are as follows. Nightlife lots going on. Proximity to Epcot families favourite place. We love the hustle and bustle and smells and noises on and around the resort we love a hoppin nightlife and active days. The pool is great that pretty much sums it up I think.

OKW - no question! It is our home resort since 1992 and we all love it! We have stayed at a few others - BCV, SSR and BWV, but OKW will always be our favorite!

Of the on-site resorts, I think I like the theming best at VWL, the location of BCV is fantastic, and the setting and rooms are best at OKW. Overall, though, I might like HH the best.

Walking distance to Epcot and MGM (and you can see Illuminations fireworks from the resort)

Having all the boardwalk "action" right there at my doorstep, which includes 4 restaurants, a sweet shoppe, a bakery, a dance hall, a piano bar and ESPN.

Pool has very cool Clown slide (known as the Keister Coaster)

Standard room option uses less points

Walking distance to Fantasia Gardens Mini golf

Love the whole Atlantic City/Coney Island atmosphere

P.S. In case you haven't already noticed pretty much without fail those responding chose their home resort. They wouldn't be our home resorts if we didn't love them! If you're thinking of joining DVC I wouldn't pick a home resort based on the (understandably) prejudiced responses you're going to get here. Visit the different resorts and see which "feels" best to you. Good Luck!

Unfortunately, we don't have a "family" favorite. DH's favorite onsite is OKW (his absolute fave is HH), my favorite is BCV. This works out fine for us, though, since we go together to OKW once a year (I love any DVC resort, just REALLY love BCV), then I go solo once a year to BCV. So I get 2 trips a year, DH goes once a year (which is enough for him), and everyone's happy.

Our favorite is BCV. Why? Theming, location, layout of the resort, and, most importantly, Stormalong Bay.

Least favorite is OKW--just don't like the condo feel!

The best thing about DVC is that we have a several different resorts to choose from!!!!

BWV ... because it offers the shortest walk to the Dolphin. (For one week each year - the Dolphin's Conference center becomes the CENTER of my world.)

We love BCV for many reasons: it's in it own quiet wing (like VWL), the barefoot ambiance, the sun-and-sand decorating, the proximity to Epcot and MGM and the Boardwalk, SAB.

Mine is BWV- Not exactly sure why, maybe it's because it was the 1st one we stayed in (I'm a creature of habit) , but I love the location and the pool slide. Not to mention the ESPN club!

DH & DD- OKW, They like how large the rooms are and how relaxing it is there. I'm sure being right on the golf course is a + for DH's love for it. Now that the pool will be there DD is in heaven!

My favorite is VWL. We own the least amount of points there but enough to guarantee a stay in a studio in December.

This time we noticed the carved wooden animals in the lobby of the villa. The rocking chairs by the fireplace look so inviting, but I do prefer to sit in the balcony of the lodge, outside, looking out on the pool, lake, geyser, birds soaring.

Artist Point is a great restaurant, our favorite, but we don't particularly like the other choices there.

SSR (duh).

We like the architectural style of the place, and the spread-out resort feel. Having DTD/PI/WE right next door lends a bit of convenient excitement to the place.

Yes, Leaping Libations is a great travel destination in its own right!

However, VWL continues to be our favorite. Not a bad pool bar there either as you sit on the bench and look out over Bay Lake! Besides, as DVC members we are allowed to pool-bar hop!
