Poohbear, you are so right on the Marie's Blue Cheese. Every now and then on a Saturday night, we have "wing night" for something different, and I buy a jar. I make buffalo wings, and serve carrot and celery sticks with it and the Marie's. DS (13) and his friends love this meal.
Care to share the secret with a 1000 of your closest friends![]()
It's mostly technique. I cut a fresh garlic clove in half and rub the cut side all over the inside of a wide ceramic bowl. Then I put in my greens and veggies on top. I drizzle everything with olive oil (I swear by Phillippo Berrio extra virgin). I have a great oil decanter--I think it's important to have one with a small cap that can drizzle delicately. I sprinkle the top of the salad with ShopRite brand garlic salt, Badia's Italian seasoning, and fresh ground pepper.
Then I toss it well with a big fork and spoon. I repeat the oil drizzle, seasoning and toss at least one more time. I taste it then to see if it's right, and when it is, I sprinkle a little bit of Regina red wine vinegar and give it another toss.
I serve it then, and that's it. I'm picky about my ingredients, but that's the way I cook. It's really all about moistening all of the greens and vegetables with good olive oil that makes it special.
