Trying to stay budget so no iPhone for me. I am not looking for a web access phone, just talking and texting. Important features for me:

1. Must have a one button "silence" or "vibrate" mode. Current phone is a pain with this.

2. QWERTY key pad for texting

3. easy to use calendar/schedule option

So what do you like about your phone?

I have the Samsung Solstice and have been pretty happy with it. It is a touch screen.

You can easily put it in vibrate mode easily by going to the pushing dial then holding down the # key.

If you hold the phone sideways it has a QWERTY key pad, or you can hold it upright and it has the regular phone key pad.

I haven't really used the calendar/schedule function, but I know it does have a calendar.

Overall I have no complaints! The phone is very user friendly.

I have a LG Prime that I am loving at the moment. I like my phone that really simple to use. The calander option easy to program things into.

It has qwenty if turn sideways to use to text. I only text once moment if that.

I love that fact that surf full web sites just using the 15 mednit unlimited net. I have install Operamini4.2 and works like a charm. I have google maps and another naivation system that use for free.

I have a lot free games and apps for free because it java phone. There is 100s free games and apps.

The mp3player is great. The best part it using 3.5 headphones. I love that.

You can but on vibrant or silence.

It does everything I want do. The only I don't is that it not 3G it only Edge.

I have play with the Pantech Link and really to use. I don't like that it has 1.3 camera on the phone. I like the qwenty a lot.

Also like the Pantech Link

Then go have the choice go with a GSM unlocked phone:
Nokia E63 which simliar to Blackberry without data plan
Nokia C3 unlocked
Nokia C3 buy Wal-mart
Nokia 72

i just got a samsung sunburst about 2 months ago, and i LOVE it! the touchscreen keypad has made texting SO much easier! it fits in the phone holder on my WDW bag (a BIG bonus) and gets much better reception than my 2 year old, nokia flip phone!

I used to have the Samsung Solstice and I really liked it. Like someone else mentioned, it is a touch screen and some people do not like touch screens. My kids and a friend have the Samsung Impression and they all love it. It is virtually the same thing as the Solstice, but has a regular keyboard. I would recommend either one of those. Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like both of the Samsungs, just have to visit the store now to try one out.

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but you don't have to get your phone at the ATT store. The last time we were up for an upgrade, we got our phones at Wal-mart. They had a much bigger selection of free and cheap phones and they can just renew your contract there. I got my phone for free there!!!

We love the Pantech Impact, comes in blue or pink and does have the one button vibrate feature and all the other features you are looking for. I love the keyboard! BTW it was free when I upgraded to texting plan and got it refurbished. The phone got delivered to me and it was like NEW. My daughter and I got the same phone that way.

I agree! We do much better at Walmart OR online. We never deal with the store.

To answer the original question, we recently got three Pantech Ease phones. First, DH needed one, and I researched thoroughly. I had no experience with Pantech and was a little bit skeptical, but the reviews were good. The girl at Walmart told us that that phone was one of the ones that never got brought back during the 30 day trial period.

After playing with her dad's phone, DD decided that she really wanted one too (her phone was one she had gotten at the ATT store the last time she needed an upgrade, got it without researching it, and it wasn't worth much). She loves hers too. Since we have a family texting plan, she was able to add the internet to hers for only $10 a month.

I have long been a RAZR fan and thought they would have to pry mine from my cold dead hands (we're in a remote area, and it has always worked better than anything else for us - we all used to have them). Weeellll, after watching how well DH's did with reception and how easy it is to use (actually has two settings - one for people who like things pretty simple and one for people like DD who like the bells and whistles), I got one too. I love the slide out QWERTY keyboard!

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!! So easy to use! Yes, the touchscreen takes a short time to adjust too, but after that, it's a breeze. I bought (actually used ebay bucks) two sets of accessories off ebay (case, faceplate cover, car charger, and extra house charger) for about $10 with free shipping. The two cases are different colors to help DH and I tell ours apart.

We did pay $28 each for our phones and had to do the 2 year upgrade plan, but that wasn't an issue for us. Everybody we know has ATT and that cuts down on our minutes usage (free cell to cell). :)

jumping on board since I am also in the market. What is Qwerty?

It simple terms it like a computer keyboard that have all the letters layout format so that type easier.

I have the LG Prime and this my first qwenty and touchscreen and I am loving it.

If you look at the top line of letters on your keyboard, starting from the left the first six letters are Q W E R T Y. :)

Thank you so much for posting! I'm looking for a new AT&T phone too, and I'm also a RAZR lover! Nothing I've tried has such great reception, so I keep going back to "old faithful." It's so slow for texting, though. I want a slide phone with QWERTY keyboard. Sounds like I need to check out this phone!

Thanks for telling me that. I never really look at computer keyboard. That where got name from. LOL

I know several people who have Blackberries and they love them.

I know you said no iPhone , but I pay only about $75 a month. I have the 2 gb data so if you went with the lesser plan it could be even less. I was someone who went from phone to phone.. Not anymore, this is the phone for me.

Have you had problems with the Impression locking up? My son is on his 2nd one and it does the same thing. He texts a LOT.

$75 a month for one phone? I have to pay for 5 so that would put me over the edge LOL I have a 3yo blackberry with no data plan. Would like to upgrade but not sure what to get since I don't want my bill any higher. Its around $180 now I believe.
