We had a blonde Cocker Spaniel named Ariel. Her AKC name was Ariel Aurora Star. She passed away 2 years ago and I can't bring myself to get another. It hurt so much when she died.
We do have a cat. Half Siamese, half Burmese and his name is Harry Kitty.
Jake & Elwood are really cute names! I think you should get an Elwood.
We have three dogs and I chose two of their names.
We got our first dog as a married couple when I was pregnant with our first son... dh LOVED the name Jake.. but I didn't... I am NOT fond of nicknames... so I made sure we named the dog Jake.
Our next dog we got when I was pregnant again and dh LOVED the name Bo.. well you know what I did right?? Guess it didn't matter b/c we had a beautiful dd.
Here are Jake and Bo...
Jake is the Old English Sheepdog, Bo is a pound puppy.
Our third dog we got almost three years ago and ds4 (2 at the time) named her Maisy after the white mouse Maisy.. his favorite show at the time.
She is a Jack Russell.
sorry I have tried and tried to resize it, but couldn't get it to work
Monty Dog (because my SO always wanted a dog named Monty)
2.5 years
Smooth Coated Jack Russell Terror
Dodger (after the dog in Oliver & Co. who he looks like)
1 year
Wire Coated Jack Russell Terror
I LOVE having two. Not just because there are more pups to love and a lap warmer for each of us, but also because they keep each other company, wear each other out and keep each other amused when we can't. I noticed a SIGNIFICANT improvement in Monty Dog's overall behavior when we brought Dodger home this past January. Maybe Dodger has taught him some things that the humans could not.
Anyway, they are best buddies. They eat from the same bowl, share their toys and treats and bedding. They play together, wrestle, tug of war, chase, "king of the couch" etc. and then they cuddle together to sleep:
For us, we love having two. They are such good boys.
I have a Saluki named "Rio"Karizma, my Saluki before her was Hearts a "Flutter" Also had a greyhound named Khaptavation, Tinky B and Ski. So many great dogs in my life!
We have 2 dogs, chi/mix we adopted at age 2. Her name was Cheka. We named her Kallie. Corgie/mix, we adopted at age 7 months. The foster home was calling him Petey, which we kept. His orignal name was Pee-Wee. No, you are not nuts for adding a 2nd dog. I was not going to get Petey as we had 2 dogs put down within 2 years. I thought 1 dog would be enough. DH wanted another, I gave in. Not a day goes by that I don't think what we would have done without Petey. He just makes us smile. I am thinking of adding a 3rd. Now that may be crazy.
We have a Boston Terrier (terror) named Zippy--& he is!!!
the only advice I can give is never, ever, under any circumstances let your 13 yr old son pick out the family dog!
Our wonderful shepard/dobie mix was named Sydney.
He was a wonderful, silly big puppy! He lived to the ripe old age of 15 before passing away this past Mother's Day-
we are now searching the rescues for just the right companion(s) for the Zipster of Love-
perhaps a BIG cat??? Jean
