Our 5 yr old Golden retriever mix is named "Q-tip" she was a "Q-tip" when we adotped her 3 yrs ago.
Our yellow lab mix is named "Tulsa" she was a "Tulsa" when we adopted her 1 month ago, and we just kept it.

We have a chocolate lab named Jake. I'm working on DH to get a little buddy for Jake. I'd love to get a yellow lab. So that got me thinking of what we'd name it if I'm successful at talking DH into it. DH likes Elwood, so it would be Jake & Elwood from the Blues Brothers. So I was wondering what your dogs name is. Oh and does anyone think I'm as crazy as DH does for even contemplating another dog?

No, I don't think you're at all crazy. Dogs like to hang out together and it keeps them occupied when you're busy. Of course, I might be biased, we have 3 (yes three!) dogs. A black lab (Ruby), a cockapoo (Gromit) and a Chihuahua mix (ChootChoot). I just had to get a little "menapausal Barbie", as my husband puts it, after I went to Belarus and visited the orphanages. I wanted a baby but after much thought settled for ChootChoot. I dress her up, take her everywhere with me. It's pretty pathetic, but hey...hormones, whadya gonna do?

I love Jake and Elwood!

My parents have the family dog, Chesapeake Bay retriever named Boomer. It's short for Boomerang, not after Boomer Esiason or anything like that. He used to pick his ears up during the halftime show when he'd hear his name on television.

Seems to be a lot of dogs named Jack. I couldn't do that since my brother's name is Jack. It would mean some confusion.

I had a dog named Pepper for most of my childhood...she was a stray mut we found while having a garage sale when I was 4 years old. She was a great friend all my life...died the first weekend I moved away from college. I had a hard time losing her.

Now my parents have a dog named Shadow...but I have little to do with him.

Yellow Lab name Newman aw:
Spoiled dog spends his day sleeping, eating, and swimming/floating in the pool. We have foam floats and if you put the float up to the stairs he gets on it and floats around. I have a pic. but couldn't figure out how to add it.

Duncan. I don't know who named him that, but his name was the reason DH finally agreed to get a dog. So we lengthened his name to Duncan McLeod. AKA the highlander. lol

I don't think you're crazy for wanting another dog. I want another dog, too, but we can't where we live. Anyway, Jake and Elwood would be cool names together.

Our german shepherd is named Xander (pronounced Zander) after Vin Diesel's character in XXX LOL (my idea ). On his AKC it is Xander the Great.

We named ours Dash, he is the little guy in the picture below, we've had him 3 weeks today After about 2 days of having him here I knew he needed a middle name as well. (I like a longer name to say when someone is in trouble) We thought about it a lot and came up with Gon-it... so he is Dash Gon-it and our last name. I wanted Garnet as in DD's birthstone, but she like Gon-it. He is named after the boy in The Incredibles.

Ten years ago we had a chocolate lab and his name was Kramer (from Sienfeld), the name fit him perfectly.

She was named that by the Humane Society and was part of a training program with children so by the time she was up for adoption she knew her name very well and we kept it. It suits her perfectly
