What is your budget for easter baskets for the kiddos?

How much do you usually spend? Do you go all out? Do you just get candy?
My mom always made us up a nice a little basket when we were younger (maybe $50 worth of stuff), was wondering if others did this as well? Sometimes when I mention it to people they look @ me like I have 10 heads, as I assume they put candy and eggs in their baskets.

I spend about $20 per kid. I don't buy alot of candy, but they usually get a new movie, or CD or Itunes gift cards.

Well heck, we are going to Atlanta for Spring Break and taking DD to America Girl for her Easter present. Not that we normally spend that kind of money, but we do spend about 50 bucks for candy, a movie or ds game, etc.

I buy 75% off rabbits for them the previous year, just because you gotta have a stuffie in your basket, no matter how old you are. So that is about $3. I bought some discounted Valentine candy that will pass for Easter to stuff in eggs for our neighbor egg hunt. I was in Target and found a couple of things under $10, so I think I will get them an action figure they have been asking for. I also found a couple of cute T Shirts (a Perry Platypus, and a Wimpy Kid). This will come to about $35 each.

I don't really count what I spend, but I usually buy 2 or 3 bags of candy- 1 jellybeans, 1 Reese's eggs, 1 something else- and 2 hollow chocolate bunnies for DH and DD. We use the same Easter baskets every year, and sometimes DD gets a cute Target $5 T shirt. Probably a total of $20-25 for both of them.

lol this is true, and if your faced with the same situation I am (Christmas then January birthday....lol)
I actually started shopping, so far I got DD American Girl Molly DVD (cheap on ebay!!!!), an AG Kit outfit, and will probably get 1 more thing, probably a mini AG doll for her w/ a 30 or 40% off coupon from borders.
She really wants a "fiesta set" that is new to AG, I don't know if I should go for it.
ugh, honestly if i were rich I just wouldn't care, they are only young once, but this just is not the case lol. And DD is allergic to peanuts so usually there it no candy in the basket, unless I find some at a specialty shop that sells nut free easter candies.

I don't go by dollar amount, I just buy what he needs. Usually he get some clothes. Short sleeved shirts and maybe some shoes. I roll them up and stuff them in. I get stuff for spring and summer. Kites, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, board game, water guns (We are in SoCal and it sometimes it is hot at Easter) stuff like that. Then a chocolate bunny. Not to much candy..I think I have the only kid that doesn't care for candy too much! I try to do something fun for the basket. I think only once has he had a basket. I stuff everything into something else he needs. A baseball hat, a bucket, a new lunchbox (we are always going through lunch boxes), the fun part is finding what to put it all in!! He has a Feb birthday so I try to go all out because he doesn't get anything again until next Christmas!

I saw my first of the season Cadbury eggs Easter commercial today.

My sons Easter basket consisted of all sorts of goodies. He would get games, books, and other presents that would be given to him separately.

I buy for mostly adults now, still managing to spend a lot.

I'd be surprised if I spent $10 per basket. We have never really celebrated the Easter Bunny. We are more about the crucifixion. We do dye eggs and each person has a small basket or Cool Whip bowl which we put candy in. Starburst jelly beans, robins eggs, and a chocolate bunny are about it.

I've never kept track, but some years it could be up to $100.00 per basket.

When Brad was born DH said, "Baby, remember this isn't Christmas. If it doesn't fit in the basket, he doesn't get it for Easter." He didn't know what a great basket wrapper I would become.

The boys get very little candy and of course what I put in changes as they get older. Now it's gift cards, books, DVDs, CDs, sunglasses, shorts, T shirts, gum, hair products, DS games, Wii games.. The baskets are filled all the way to the handle.

Easter baskets and Christmas stockings are two of our favorite things both to give and to get in our house.

When I was growing up my mom always put dried fruit (we asked for it), some candy, a new bathing suit, a fishing license (when we were old enough to need one), and "springy" stuff.
I do something similar with my kids, but it varies from year to year. Last year I gave them sand buckets (as the baskets) and filled it with candy, a beach towel, swim suit, goggles, sunglasses, flip flops, and sidewalk chalk. (we went to Florida soon after). They were pretty dang cute!
This year I'm going for a gardening theme. I'll put candy (of course), seeds, kids gardening tools, gloves, sun hats, carrots with the tops still on (my kids love them!). I'll probably use watering cans for the baskets.
I happen to have a theme addiction.

Just wanted to add easter is my dd9's favorite holiday by far! After Christmas she is always counting down the days til Easter lol I think its 38 or 39 days away

My kids get the same stuff every year, a chocolate bunny, a package of peeps, jelly belly jelly beans and a movie. This year New Moon is coming out right before for all you with Twilight fans We do an Easter egg hunt too, and fill some of the eggs with dollar bills. I don't stick to a budget, I just get what I need.
The year we went to WDW I made their baskets Disney themed and gave them Disney Dollars too. That was an expensive Easter basket year.

This is off topic for Easter baskets, but I thought I would share for fellow Easter lovers (ham, chocolate, and daffodils...what's not to love?)
My aunt always hosted Easter at her house, and she started a tradition that I love!
The adults would hide eggs for the kids (plastic, filled with money and candy) and then the kids would hide eggs for the adults (plastic, filled with lotto scratchers!) Every adult that came brought 5 scratch off tickets, and then you could find 5 eggs. Nobody ever won really big, but it was sooo much fun hiding them as a kid (once my cousin hid one inside a grapefruit...that was still on the tree) and just as much fun as an adult to hunt them out in all the wacky places the kids hid them.

No budget, just get what I want.

I get new outdoor toys, here in south Louisiana, outdoor stuff gets moldy so we start fresh every year at Easter. New swimsuit and flops and usually an outfit and pajamas. I get a video game or two and always books. Bunny also brings new undies stuffed in eggs , just like my mom did. Very little candy . I think i spent 100.00 at least last year.

I dont buy video games during the year, so the bunny is always sure to bring one.

I know its overboard, but I am not a big spender during the rest of the year, so holidays tend to be a bit bigger than most.

my basket as a kid was HUGE.. it was rectangular and held a ton.
