Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anybody wanted to post their best, worst, or funniest stories that happened to them in Dinseyland.

:rotfl: :donald: :dumbo: :hmghost: :mickeyjum

Okay. Picture Disneyland Main Street circa 1982. My youthful Grandma has been taking me to Disneyland every year since I was about 4 (I'm now about 12)...we are at the rope drop, the only time I can remember being at the rope drop actually...I get it in my head that we are going to be the FIRST riders on the Matterhorn.

We "jog" and race walk to the ride, but Grandma and her Keds just can't keep up with my 12 yo legs...so we have to slow down, and two boys about my age beat us in the line. I said something very nice and privately to my Grandma, not whining or anything, but just a "dang, I wanted to be the first riders of the day..." and these boys, believe it or not (remember they are 12 and they are not with their parents) turn to me and say, "you can have the front car."

So my Grandma and I get to ride in the front of the bobsled, the first riders of the day!! It still brings a tear to my eye after all these years thinking about how nice those boys were!

I'd probably have to say last year when I took my son to DLR for the first time. He was 3 at the time. I posted about this in my trip report last year...but I'll post it again here since it's probably my favorite memory.
A little history...I divorced my sons dad when he was 2. I had been a stay at home mom since my son was born. When I left my ex I started out without a dime to my name. I moved in with my parents until I got a great job. Still LOVE my job! Anyway....I worked my hiney off to take my son to DLR. We both needed it after the year we had previously. Soooooooo I take him to DLR for 5 days! :cool1: Our very last night we're watching the fireworks and I get a little teary eyed. Just seeing my sons face lit up after each burst in the sky was just priceless. He had such a great week...as did I. I always loved Disneyland as a kid, but taking my own son...there's nothing better! I was happy but sad at the same time because I knew our fun full week away from the chaos of home was coming to an end. At the end of the fireworks my son put his hands on my face and said "thank you mommy for taking me to Disneyland". That about did it for me. My boyfriend snapped a picture right at the same time so although it's a horrible picture of tired teary eyed me...it's still a very special picture to me that captured one of my favorite memories of Disneyland. It was just such a special moment that despite everything we had went through to get to DLR.....I wouldn't change a thing. :::Sniff:::: ok need a tissue now.

Aw, that was so sweet noryglory and MommyWithDreams. I love both of your stories.

Here's one of my stories, two years ago, when I finally got to go to Disneyland for the first time my family and I were riding IJA before we got on (and were watching the movie in one of the rooms) my mom didn't pay attention to the part where it said store all of your items in the bag. When she got on (we were in the front row) and we started going really fast and turning sharp corners my mom felt her sunglasses (which she had been wearing on her head) fly off. She thought she had lost them forever. But when we pulled back into the gate the people sitting in the third row came up to her and were holding her sunglasses. They said "are these yours? They landed in my lap during the ride." we still joke about it to this day.

What a wonderful story! :goodvibes Your son is very lucky to have you for a mommy.

For me it would be just recently when I took my nephew and sister. My little sister had been before but my nephew hadn't. The best thing about the trip was seeing his eyes light up whenever he saw a character or while watching the parade and fireworks. It made me feel so AWESOME being able to give this to my nephew. I now know how my mom felt and how many other parents feel during their kids first trip to DL or WDW.

I'd love to share a 30 second video but I don't know how...anyone to help me learn how?

Thanks...I tried that too and it won't work.

My memory is on our last night leaving the park late just me and my then 15 year old daughter giving me a hug and thanking me for taking her to DL. In these time of problems with teenagers it makes me feel so special to have a daughter who likes to spend time with us and is still a kid at heart...

One of my favorite stories happened during the 50th anniversary. It was the first time my husband and kids had ever been and about 10 years for me. The whole trip was so much fun and amazing.

One morning when we entered the park, we were trying to get pictures in front of the Mickey Flowers at the entrance. There was no one around and I was able to get a couple of shots and all of the sudden, the band comes around the corner. Honestly, I was a little disappointed as I wanted to try to get some more pictures and I just knew it was going to gt packed. However, the band leader walked right up to my son and handed him his "wand" (what the heck are they called??????) and motioned for him to conduct the band. So, my son got to conduct the band through three or four songs and he still talks about it three years later. :)

I think the word you were looking for was "baton". ;) That is probably a story that your son will be telling his kids someday.

We were at Disney. Don't the band leaders use "magic wands"? :wizard: Seriously, I couldn't for the life of me remember the word. Thanks!

I do hope he'll remember it forever and tell his kids someday. He was soooooo excited!:goodvibes

Oh how fun!!! What a great memory!

Thanks, MommywithDreams....I think your story is pretty great. When I read it for the first time (when you posted the picture) I was teary eyed. Oh the things we do for our kids.....and how they "repay" us makes it all worth it. *THAT'S* what it's all about.

I'll share another one really quick....same trip, last day there. My kids wanted one of those cute Mickey ear balloons. They hadn't even looked at them until the last day, of course. I didn't really want to "waste" the money on them since we were leaving that afternoon, but I relented and let them each get one. As we were walking out of the park ::::sniff, sniff:::: all three of them stopped and asked if they could give their balloons to another child who was in the park. Awwwwww.....I just thought it was so sweet of them to think of that. I had specifically told them that we couldn't take them home on the plane and they were so upset. However, when they found another little one to give them to they were so excited to share the magic.

Oh yea! I get to tell it again. I never get tired of telling this one. . .

It was my youngest dd's(2 at the time) first visit to Disneyland. She didn't know what to expect, except for she knew that Sleeping Beauty's Castle was there. All the way to Disneyland in the van she kept telling us over and over that when she got to Disneyland she was going to sleep with Sleeping Beauty in her castle.

I told her that Sleeping Beauty's Castle walk-through was closed years ago, so she wouldn't be able to visit her there, but she would surely see her other places. But she kept insisiting over and over that she would sleep with Sleeping Beauty. We laughed it off and said "Sure, honey. You can just ask her when you see her."

One day when we were in the Animation Studios we saw Belle in the Princess area (used to be where Turtle Talk now sits). So we waited in line for Belle. My dd walks up and asks Belle where Aurora is and matter of factly tells her that Sleeping Beauty is her favorite and she wants to sleep with her. Belle was very gracious and told her that Aurora would be coming out next and they would arrange to have her first in line to see her. Then she kissed my dd on the LIPS! It was precious!

The handler CM put my dd first in line to see Aurora who came out right after. Dd walked right up to her gave her a huge hug and said "Can I sleep with you??" Aurora was taken back and asked "What?" Dd repeated that she wanted to sleep with her. Aurora said "Of course!" and laid out her dress and laid down. Dd laid on top of it, closed her eyes and the picture taking commenced. They both pretended to sleep for about 30 seconds. Aurora asked dd if they could wake up. Dd said "Nope! Still sleeping!" Aurora gave her another 30 seconds or so before they woke up.

My mom and I were seriously bawling. What a magical moment for my dd and my entire family. We even heard Aurora ask the CM photographer for a copy of the picture.

The next year when we went back, we saw the same Aurora during storytelling at the Princess Shoppe. She recognized my dd and called her by name. Then she introduced her to Prince Phillip who went on and on about how Aurora had told him all about their nap time together. How they pulled that off, I have NO idea! But once again, another Disney Magical moment for dd.

Just an aside: After having the above experiences with the princesses at DLR, it is no wonder why I am not a fan of PFFT! Oh how I miss the magic when the princesses were free. Now they are prisoners of the PFF.

Anyways, thanks for letting me share that again! Like I said, I LOVE LOVE sharing the magic!
