What is your average speed driven on your long drives?

Has anyone ever figured out what their average speed is when driving to WDW? I usually go 3-4 MPH over the limit, but that doesn't take into account traffic, lower speed limits going through big cities, weather, etc. All of the online mapping programs seem to use different average MPHs which gives us estimated drive times from 17.5 to 20 hours. I'd be curious to see what some of the veterans here average. Thanks.

Hi. Using actual driving hours only, I have calculated the average at between 68 and 75 mph on various trips over the years. The variation is due to traffic/accidents and weather. The average with stops included is from 58 to 65 mph. I leave early am so there is no traffic the first chunck of the trips, and by then I am in the higher speed limit states. I also tend to have a heavier foot than you have reported! It's about 1070 miles and typically takes 14 -16 hours of actual drive time.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Here in MI I'm looking at only 100 miles further but several hours longer...the first three hours of our drive is on 2-4 lane local highways.:headache: I'd kill to be able to just jump right on the interstate. Oh well. I'd be curious to see what other people have experienced too.

When I drove back in 1994!!!!...I figured my average speed was about 58 MPH and included all stops for gas, etc. My trip was 99% highways though.
