What is your very favorite family recipe, something that you or your family love to eat. Can you share the recipe with me? It can be something that might sound kind of gross but is really delicious.
Here is one of mine, my mother learned this from my grandmother who came from Czeckoslovakia. I can't give you measurement, because there really aren't any, I will try to give an estimate and if you try making it adjust it to your own taste.

Ohmachka (I have no idea if this is the right spelling, but that is how it is pronounced), a potato soup. Serve with a nice loaf of pumperknickle or rye bread.

Take four or five potatos (med. to large), halve, quarter and chop them into chunks. Place in a pot of water to boil.
Peel one or two cucumbers and slice (we halve it and then just cut slices) sort of thin.
When potatos are a little tender, drain some of the water off and then throw the cucumbers in.
Meanwhile in another pot make a thin white cream sauce (you know the kind, just butter, milk and flour). Make enough that you have around 4 cups? or so. When this has thickened (don't make it real thick where it taste like flour) dump it into the potato and cucumbers.
Next add dill. it can be dry or fresh. If using dry start with 1 teaspoon full add more if you like dill. Add salt and pepper.
Add about 2 cups of sour cream and stir. Add about 1 teaspoon of white vinigar. Let your soup cook for about 10- 15 minutes more.

Sometimes my mother will add hard boiled eggs to it (maybe two or three). She just slices them or cuts them in quarters and tosses them in. We always add white vinigar to our bowls, I like mine with a little more, some people don't add any. Remember, you will have to play around with it, there is no wrong or right way. My sister makes hers thick, my mother makes hers thin. I like less cucumber, but more potato and more dill. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
