What cake flavor/filling combination are people using (or did use). What was a hit, what was not?

Our bottom layer is chocolate cake with raspberry mousse and fresh raspberries, our middle layer is marble cake with peanut butter cup icing, and our top layer is also chocolate cake with raspberry mousse. We tried them all at our planning session and everything was absolutely unreal....literally the most delicious frosting you've ever tasted in your life!! You can't go wrong with ANY of the choices, as far as I'm concerned.

Did you find any cost difference between having every layer the same flavor and having different flavors?

I'm pretty sure you can have each layer however you want it (for custom weddings at least--I have no idea about intimates). The cost went up for us when we added the fresh raspberries.

OK firstly there was no price difference in different layers - the cakes are charged, for custom weddings, on the basis of the design and how many people it is for.

Top Layer - yellow sponge, white choccy mousee, fresh strawberries
Middle Layer - chocolate sponge, dark choccy mousse, fresh raspberries
Bottom Layer - yellow sponge, white choccy mouse, fresh raspberries

and LOL Paul and I managed to share a slice of middle and Bottom layer as dessert (we didn't bother serving anything else for dessert, just cake) and then our EM very kindly left us a slice of the top layer each in our room for when we got back after our DP - so we scoffed that down before retiring to bed on our wedding night - it was a perfect end to our perfect day - because with us two it really is all about the food ;)

We decided on chocolate cake with Amaretto mousse filling...I'll let you know how it was in a few weeks! :)

Our main cake was white with white chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries. It was wonderful. Our anniversary cake was the same, the other was chocolate with chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries. I never got to try that one... bummer!

2 tier cake

bottom: chocolate with strawberry filling
top: Marble with amaretto

But I couln't pass up trying the mini cakes so I got those too
Yellow cake with white chocolate mousse.
mmm I cant wait....The best part is with both cakes I hope to have much left over to eat later :groom:

It was an almond flavor cake with raspberry mousse filling YUM YUM YUM!

Mmmm, I love cake and it sounds like Disney pulls out all the stops here!

As a much younger bride, marrying my children's father, I planned white icing over a chocolate cake. I wanted non-traditional then (1985) and I am a certified choco-holic :goodvibes

I just about cried when we cut it and it was white with some kind of orange filling... A friend :confused3 called out, I thought it was supposed to be chocolate?! The cake baker might have had ADD

Can't wait to hear more cake descriptions

our cake was white cake with chocolate pudding. it was really yummy.

GRAPEFRUIT CAKE!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Grapefruit Cake at The Brown Derby so we asked if we could have it for our wedding cake. The pasty chef at the WL said yes.

OMG it was SO GOOD! I am salivating right now thinking about it. :goodvibes

Ours was absolutely delicious! It was a white cake with a hite chocolate mouse mixed with fresh raspberries. Yummy! Our top layer didn't make the trip home very well nor the time spent in the deep freeze. But we did discover a cheese cake at the Cheese Cake Factory that tasted very similar to our cake.

Our cake is three tiers and this is the layers

Bottom- Yellow cake with white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries. (during the cake tasting I asked for seconds!! :teeth: )

Middle- Marble with the peanutbutter cup mousse
(DFH was in peanutbutter cup heaven at the tasting :cloud9: )

Top- Yellow cake with strawberry presevatives.
We are hoping to get it home and in the freezer in one piece.

We are doing a Grooms cake but instead of serving it at the reception, we plan on serving it at the rehearsal/Welcoming party the night before and it is a GIANT TWINKIE - basically yellow cake with whipped butter cream filling.

Great! NOW I CAN'T WAIT TILL OCTOBER!!! :bitelip:

Oh my - that sounds wonderful!!!!!

We are going to have the bottome layer yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling and the top yellow cake with raspberry filling, can't wait to try both!

Hi there. I picked a yellow cake with white chocolate mousse. I saw several people here have fresh strawberries or rasberries. I did not know they could do that. Is that extra? Where does the fruit go? In or On the Cake? Sorry i have alot of questions, due to our tight budget I cannot go to WDW for our planning session so i am doing everything over the phone, online, and through email. I love this board so much. You all have made this process so fun & easy. Thanks so much!
