My friends just tried to book the weekend of Dec 4th at DVC and they said it was completely sold out for a studio! Does anyone know what's going on that weekend? Thanks!

That is usually the time around the annual financial meetings but if they aren't published yet, people book for a 4-5 day span and also enjoy the decorations and also go to the meeting.

It's the first week of December which, IMO, is THE busiest week of the year for DVC.

Ressies for this week are typically made exactly as the 11 mo window opens.

It is always the weekend that they tape the Disney World Christmas parade in MK. Therefore, a lot of people like to go then and watch/be in the tapings. It is always a super busy time...plus they place all the people in the parades (actors, hosts, bands, etc) into the resorts as well, which cause things to be booked :)

Exactly. The first week in December is always very very busy for DVC. I booked Dec 4-11 right at my 11 month window to ensure getting our villa.

I got a THV at exactly 7 months for one night, and got a 4 night cruise, but had to WL for a 2br AKL SV for our last 2 nights. Was told by MS that friday night the 10th was available, but nothing for thursday night.

We booked a SV and a standard view studio and WL for a second SV, and it came thru within 2 days!

Yep, sounds about right. I would never expect to book ANYTHING DVC, much less a studio for that time period at less than 7 months. Heck, you often can't find anything at 10 months out for some locations!

Ooh interesting.

That time has been booked for a few months now, at least! If I'd known hubby would suddenly want to stay at our home resort on our first WDW trip, I would have called at 11 months...but calling at 9 months for that timeframe found NOTHING (at BLT) in 2 bed, 1 bed, or studio. The next week is no better. So we have from the 2nd to the 10th (first a 2 bedroom with family then a 1 bed) at OKW.

But what's wild is that the next week getting closer to xmas (2 days in the lowest season, 2 days in the next higher), I got a 1 bedroom at AKV. Go figure!

That first weekend in December caused me trouble too, 2 years ago. A DF's daughter was singing with her school in the CP, and I couldn't get anything for a Sunday, that first weekend in December. I went to Pop, and then went to AKV. Since her night was Monday night anyway, it worked out.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Another major factor at work here is that the week in question falls completely in the Adventure Season, i.e., lowest rate season. Many folks love to visit during the holidays, and this particular time period is attractive since you can go there to enjoy the holiday decorations and parties while stretching your points further. For me, it's a good window since I own a small business, and it's about the only time between Black Friday and the crush of business that happens the last 10 days before Christmas that I can afford to be gone.

I was just able to book the split stay we wanted for this timeframe :cool1:

AKV savannah view studio for Nov. 28, 29, and 30
OKW 1 bedroom Dec 1, 2, 3, and 4 (checking out Dec. 5th)

Can't wait for Christmas at WDW!!!

I didn't realize the popularity of the DVC bookings at this time either. I called end of April for a one bedroom at our home resort BLT. NOTHING available! So I waitlisted BLT studio or 1 bedroom. Exactly at the 7 month window at 9:00am I called and got a one bedroom at BoardWalk Villas. Nothing available at BLT, but my second choice was BWW. We took off the other waitlist, and are now waitlisted for a boardwalk view. I'm quite excited. Its my first time going at "Christmas."

We booked a standard AKV studio from 12/1 to 12/6 right at the 7 month window. We're also trying to get a value AKV 2-bedroom for the same dates, but so far have only gotten 12/1 to 12/4. We're wait listed for the rest. If nothing happens by the time that the fall discounts are announced we'll split our stay and pay for something at the value resorts. I've been calling frequently and nothing is moving.

We booked an OKW 1 bedroom at the 11 month booking window for Dec. 1-8, and when I tried to book a GV (some folks kind of wanted to do that with us) at 10 months out, there was nothing available (not that I expected it to be) unless I wanted only the weekend. We just kept the 1 bedroom, and we're going back at the end of January with the folks who wanted to go.

So you're getting 2 trips!:banana:Nice!

We booked a studio for Dec. 3-12th right at the 11th month mark. Cheapest points too!

There were Studios available that weekend at Saratoga Springs when I called a couple hours ago.

Thanks - they said nothing was available, but maybe there was just nothing available where they wanted to stay :goodvibes They switched to the following weekend and several acceptable options.

We went during this timeframe last year and booked at the 11 month window because we know how difficult it is to get into anything during the first 2 weekends of December. I was nervous about getting in when I called at the 11 month window, I would've never made it to the 7 month window.

My inlaws were just able to book the first week in Dec (Dec 3-10) in a 2 bedroom at OKW through RCI today. Much as it kills me, that means someone is going to be lucky when I cancel VWL 2 bedroom for 4 nights Dec 4-7 and the night of Dec 8 in a 2 bedroom at AKV Kidani. We're keeping Dec 9 and 10 at Kidani and just wasting the night of Dec 9at OKW.

I'd much rather prefer a split stay between VLW and AKV but using RCI points that aren't mine means I can keep those DVC points for future trips. I'll suck it up and take the OKW/ AKV split trip this year. I've never stayed at OKW before but I know the rooms are large so I think this will work great for having 3 couples share a 2 bedroom.
