I have been reading about reviews and such and it reminded me that on our last couple of trips I noticed that the bacon is disgusting! Why are they using the already cooked stuff and rather bad already cooked stuff? I am not a baconaholic or anything but my DS is and I really hate paying for that junk!

I am not sure about the bacon in Disney, but I do know that bacon has become more expensive EVERYWHERE! http://money.cnn.com/2010/08/24/news/bacon_prices/index.htmIt has something to do (or atleast thats what they are blaming it on) the economy. The prices of bacon are predicted to come down around mid year 2011. Perhaps Disney has changed vendors or the type/quality of the bacon due to this. It wouldn't suprise me.:tilt:

Likely because precooked bacon is more cost-effective. Lasts longer, and only needs to be warmed.

I don't know. It's rubbery and just not right though. I'd like to eat my bacon extra crispy please and thank you!!! I actually had a burger from Wendy's with super crispy bacon, it was a pleasant surprise!

This is interesting. I thought that the bacon was a little off on our last trip as well. Didn't think much of it. Never heard of precooked bacon but that might explain things. At the GFC my daughter asked for extra crispy bacon and they gave her the usual that you find everywhere.

Oh well. It;ll take a lot more than lousy bacon to keep me away. Thats why they make sausage.

The bacon didn't bother me, but then I'm the one that requests limp bacon. But DH asked for sausage in it's place.

My parents purchase lots of precooked bacon at Costco. It is frozen, so it lasts. It doesn't taste bad. No matter how long you cook it, however, it will not become crisp. Those who prefer crisp bacon will have a problem with it.

I agree. Disney bacon is pretty icky. I avoid it, which I suppose is not the worst thing that could happen to me.

As much as I love wdw, their bacon is a joke. It is paper thin! I mean I will eat it, but it takes 10 pieces to equal one normal size piece. I am pretty sure they use pre-cooked bacon because I asked for well done bacon at CRT, and was told they couldn't do it.

So apparently the song lyric "They have pre-wrapped sausages, but they don't have pre-wrapped bacon" is no longer a true statement?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Guess I know what I'll put in the little tiny fridge in my tree fort now...

"Can you blame 'em?"

I think they prepare it in a deep fat fryer which adds to the ick factor. I love bacon, but WDW's is horrid.

Add more to that list; precooked is also lower quality than fresh bacon, and does not taste as good as fresh. If true, just another example of how WDW continues to cut costs (while raising prices) at the expense of quality and the customer they serve..

For the record, bacon is one of the few breakfast foods I enjoy and WDW is horrendous (at least at Cape May) when it comes to bacon... JMO

They sell pre-cooked bacon everywhere. I buy big packages of it at Sams club and my kids microwave it to heat it up and put on hot dogs, burgers, just to eat a plate of it...etc. They are not picky about bacon. I however, think it's pretty bad. The bacon at WDW tastes EXACTLY like the pre-cooked stuff. I'm sure that's what it is.

We make already cooked bacon in my house. It's less messy. I can get it crisp in the microwave. I do 5 seconds per piece of bacon and it gets crispy then. I wouldn't do it much longer than that though. I discovered it gets really dried out.

Their bacon is right up there with their coffee!!

I totally agree!! That Nescafe crap is nasty. We always bring our own coffee because its so bad. I can't believe thats all they serve.

There is a Starbucks at Shades of Green. I wonder if they have better bacon too??? :lmao:
