What is up with park hours?

Tomorrow morning I make my ADR's for our trip in August. DH and I have been doing last minute adjustments to our schedule for our upcoming trip in August. My husband just happened to pull up the park hours for August on MDE, and he noticed that the park hours are MUCH shorter this summer. I called Disney, and the agent on the phone was also surprised that the hours at MK and HS have been reduced by 1.5-2 hours during the entire upcoming summer. In fact, there is now only one option for Fantasmic (haven't there always been two performances in the summer?). We are really disappointed and unsure of how this will affect the crowds and overall late night experience within the parks. Right now it is showing that HS closes at 8:30 pm throughout the summer (regular closing time for summer has always been 10 pm) and 10 pm for MK (I was thinking this was always 11 pm or 12 am). Any thoughts as to if this will change? The CM on the phone said that she didn't think it would be likely because Disney knows people plan ahead so the announced dates are correct.

Disney will probably extend the hours closer to August. That is what they did last year. Original posted hours last year for August were extended. I was there last August. They updated it later sometime after I made my ADRs but before I had to make my Fast Pass.

The June hours have already been extended so take a look at those. Hopefully the resort bookings will be close to capacity in August and those hours will be extended similarly.
