What is up with John Mayer?

on the radio this morning they said he was drinking at the interview.

That's a shocker eh?

I like his music (other then his latest album) but I don't care one bit about his private life because I don't understand the need to follow the private lives of celebrities. As long as I like their professional work they can do whatever they want when they are not on a field, in front of a movie camera, or in front of a mic on the stage.

The problem now is that Mayer has apparently discovered that he really cannot resist a microphone, so his unsavory opinions and insights continue to be shared ad-nauseum with the world. He should really stick to letting his music speak for him, and shut up if there's no melody playing (except the hallucinatory songs in his head, but I digress..). There are other artists whose views I personally find to be abhorrent yet I can and do respect their artistic talent.

I admit I am not a fan of JM's style, his Twittering, and how in the past he seems to give way too much information about his personal life, but I guess he gave an interview recently and used racial slurs and said some really awful things about Jessica Simpson. He also talks about his, ahem, private parts in depth.

He says the most inappropriate things to the media and it seems to be getting worse. I thought there was some "code" amongst celebrities to not kiss and tell, etc. While I do like some of his music, I really dislike him as a person and have lost respect for him.

He is a perfect example of those in "GONE WITH the WIND", who were called no account white trash!

I don't know anything about him or his music except all the information on who he is dating and dumping that makes it to the mainstream press. I was just in a waiting room and read the Rolling Stone article about him. He seems to be one seriously messed up dude. There were too many strange things in that article to even discuss here on the DIS or wrap your head around.. He seems to be way too introspective for his own good and allowing his fame to alter who he is as a person and the way he relates to other people and the world around him.

All of that is true, but by avoiding the Access Hollywood or TMZ-type shows you don't have to hear it. Any of the celebrity gossip stuff is pretty easy to avoid if it isn't sought out.

He went to school with my ex DIL and she said he was a jerk even back then. Thought he was better than everyone. His parents had money and he made a point of telling everyone. Now he has money and he thinks he can spout whatever he wants.
He used to do concerts for my son's HS (Fairfield Prep) and he charged alot more than some of the other HS aged bands. But the HS paid it.
My son never went to his concerts back then because he couldnt' tolerate the things JM used to say while up on stage, even more of the type of stuff he said during the Playboy interview.

I think that is the issue with him.
