What is up with Grand Floridian and Cal prices?

I just called and the rep said I could add 50 VGF points in October UY. Of course, I’m not sure if the information she’s giving me is correct or not. Before I got on these boards, a rep told me they couldn’t sell me OKW direct. That ended up not being my final choice (even though OKW looks lovely), so it worked out for me.

I just don’t like how they sometimes skew the truth. I mean, she didn’t outright lie, but she said she’d have to look and how the current resorts were so much better or a deal. Of course, I now know they’d gladly sell me OKW as opposed to nothing at all. They were just trying to guide my purchase in a direction favorable to them and their commission.

VGF is my favorite resort. I bought when it was $165 in 2015 I think it was 3/4 sold out. I'm biased towards VGF definitely my favorite and now being able to walk back from MK doesn't hurt.
We own BWV and would have liked to get GFV but now that they got rid of the band they won't have my business.
I really miss the band. Really hoping they bring them back,

For VGC, at least, it’s because the DVC is so small and it’s the only DVC in California. If you want to stay at Disneyland via DVC, it’s your only option. It’s dues are also fairly low AND it’s an amazing resort, with a private entrance to CA and a quick walk to DL, so it’s really nice to own.

I am really glad I got my contract when it was “only” $195/point though at the time I remember cringing at how much that was. I doubt we’ll ever add on despite wanting more points because of the cost. But if I sell, I’m golden. :-)
Ouch, we bought at about $85 per point, we wish we would have bought more at that price now....lol the resale values now are just insane.

i hope so too.

I bought VGF over the summer because I thought it had room to run, but I didn’t think it would be this fast! VGF is the smallest WDW resort, and it’s the flagship, and it can be easily resold.

IMO, go two WDW DVC builds down the line, maybe 5 or 6 years, and the charts will make VGF look even better, like the 2042s do now. It’s the chart that is doing all the heavy lifting for Disney in recent years.

I agree and we're seeing Disney push the prices up on BLT with ROFR. VGF is rising as well but I personally feel VGF is worth $15 a point or so more than BLT. The great thing about DVC is that people can buy where they feel the value is best.

VGC is the rarest and far and away most expensive (both $/pt and pt/night) of the DVC properties. If you wanna play, you gotta pay.

Or you could spend $1k per night to stay in the hotel...

Which is why we aren't selling despite the incredibly high resale value compared to what we paid in at.

I've bought 3 VGF contracts over the past few months at prices ranging from $165 to $185 ... personally I'm ok with those prices because that's where I want to stay and the deed is long enough into the future where I think in hindsight these prices will seem reasonable. I think if you're trying to find "the best deal" then of course VGF isn't going to be on your list but I also think there's no comparison in the quality of the resort compared to places that are currently selling in the $100 to $130 range. I also own at Beach Club at prices ranging from $130 to $145 when I bought, but the deed is shorter there so that has to count for something in terms of price even though I love that resort as well. I know a lot of people like AKL and its cheaper but in my opinion there's no comparison with that resort to somewhere like VGF.

It’s so funny someone on here a few weeks ago went on a rant saying dont look at the listing prices and VGF was actually selling for something like $150 a point. I wish I could find that I almost wanted to ask where is he seeing these selling that low but I just let it goby. I saw a small VGF contract listed recently at $212 a point!
