What is up with Garth Brooks?

ok here we have a very famous guy, who dropped out of the spotlights to have an affair with a famous lady,, he tdivorced his wife,, and then marries the famous lady,,, she still gets the spotlights and attention,, his name slowly drops from the headlines,, he gets bored with no attention,, he starts acting weird and comes out of retirement to get his name in lights again,, hello.. old story,, just new characters playing the lead.

I don't think they got married yet, just engaged. I think he just needs to be in the spotlight, he always seemed like an attention grabber to me. I liked his early stuff, but would never have shelled out any kind of money to see him. (if I got freebies I would go)

His ex wife Sandy divorced him after years of him cheating on her with several women. I have a good friend that went to school in Oklahoma with Sandy and they are still friends.
Sandy has a bit of a temper and got sick of the apologies and the comings and goings of GArth and finally divorced him.
He has not married Trisha Yearwood yet as the middle daughter is having some problems right now.

I lost in semblance of respect for Garth when he made the public "apologies" to his wife for his NUMEROUS affairs. He went on and on about how he had unprotected sex and he was just so sorry...whine...whine...whine. Really, why did the public need to know that? To me he was humiliating her even more and it was disgusting to me.

I also almost puked when I saw the video "The Red Strokes"....he has the UGLIEST feet of any human being alive. *SHIVER* all I saw was bunions and corns and hammer toes....troll feet. :scared:

Of all the concerts I've been to, Garth's was the BEST!! I'm a little leary of a comeback though. He has so many great hits, then the whole Chris Gaines thing sort of soured me on him. But I have faith, after all he's Garth!

I love Garth's music...always have. Anyway, I saw some TV show on him last night (I was in bed trying to fall asleep, so I couldn't even tell you what channel it was on). On a comeback, he said he is not attempting a comeback right now. That he released a box set of the first half of his career last year, and is now releasing the box set of the second half of his career.

Of course, we all know how celebrities can say one thing and do another, so take this for whatever it's worth. :flower:

The previous poster was right, they are not married yet. I just saw a CMT special on him the other night when I was flipping channels. He is one of the few country artists I can stand. My DD#1 is into country and it drives me insane, but I put up with it because at least it's not rap/R&B.
He said on that special that he talked to Sandy about marrying Trisha and she said "It's about time", and that the girls all approved as well.
Plus I don't think Trisha Yearwood is a lot more successful than he is--from the country I'm aware of, she's a star, but not a megastar like Garth is. I got the impression that he is comfortable with the way things are now and if people don't like him, he doesn't care.
His new deal to only sell this boxed set through WalMart is talked about as a possible revolution in the industry--what if all the big names make exclusive deals with one retailer or another, etc.

I think all the fame may have gotten to Garth. Remember a few years back when he went in disguise and put out a CD as someone else - a new personality, different look, different name, whole manufactured background. What was up with that? :confused3

Ah..the infamous Chris Gaines period. Supposedly,Garth was supposed to sing the soundtrack for a movie called "The Lamb" which was never put into production. But he released the soundtrack and the music videos anyway. The music isn't typical Garth fare, but it's definately interesting. :teeth:

*ETA*

Robin--he's just following the lead of several other artists (The Rolling Stones and Usher come to mind, although I'm sure there are others)who've done the same thing with Best Buy. So what he's doing isn't exactly NEW,it's just a trend.

Garth is not coming out of retirement any time soon.

He has stated that if he comes out of retirement it'll be after his youngest graduates high school.

He is though promoting his 2nd box set which is coming out next week through Wal-mart.

There's only one brand new song on the set (10 other previously recorded by unreleased songs will also be included on one disc).

Once the CD is released and the he is done promoting the set, he'll go back to his retired life.

I would lvoe to see a new CD full of new Garth stuff, but its not going to happen anytime soon.

Actually i am annoyed with this new box set...

I have all the CD's individually...
I have the other box set
I even bout 6 copies of the greatest hit CD's so I had one of each cover (um make that 7 - I needed one I could actually open and listen too!)

NOW I don't know if I should just spend the $25 to have another copy of the SAME songs - I already have on THREEE cd's

Well besides Scarecrow, Sevens, and Double Live (I can't find my copy, so I'll probably buy the set), the set also includes an 11-song disc with unreleased material and a new DVD. I wish they would be more specific with whats on the DVD, but it soudns interesting. It lists music videos as a feature, I wonder if and how many will be included. Honestly, a store could charge $20-25 just for the sessions CD and DVD, so I think the set is definitely reasonably priced.

I also heard him on a radio interview say that he will stay in retirement until his girls are out of high school. Does he have custody of them?

I believe he does have custody of the girls; but even if he didn't, it's not like they live far away with Sandy living on the same property. :)

ROFL

That was my thought..not everybody in the world has pretty feet. And if yours are stuffed into cowboy boots all the time the way I'm sure Garth's are, you're going to have ugly troll feet. Ask my MIL. My FIL (who wears boots more often than not)has troll feet too.

:rotfl2: Not that I ever mentioned it, but I had a bunion removed. The Dh and kids made me keep it covered up at all times :earseek:

funny you should ask about Garth, today my DD was watching sesame street and garth brooks was on, he was singing a song with some monster looking creatures and i had to laugh to see garth brooks shaking his head from side to side with his cheeks flapping singing "WAKA WAKA WAKA" it was to funny so maybe he is going crazy from doing kid shows singing waka waka waka with monsters LOL
