What did "make love" use to mean?
It used to mean flirting or canoodling - making moon eyes at each other, that sort of thing.
What did "make love" use to mean?
I was at MK for EMH. The last Country Bears show was shortly before Midnight. I went in, and it was only me. No one else. I told the CM I would leave and he could shut it down early. He insisted I stay and he put me front and center, and told me I could take all the pictures I wanted. He sat next to me and we talked in-depth about the show and the characters. It was pretty cool to have a showing just for me. Like a VIP!![]()
Country is totally tongue in cheek...Guess you were also offended when they wanted to shoot little Buford....like someone said, its been around for 40 years and this is the first time I've seen anyone complain. Big Al and blood on the saddle, etc. is a satire of a western movie---I think the original song was done by Tex Ritter...you have to be pretty deficient in the humor area to find any offense in the show.....doodle doodle do, do whop![]()
This was our first time going to the "show" and was shocked at some of the songs the bears sang. There's one w/the 3 girl bears and they sing how "every guy that turns them on, turns them down" then the bear on the left singing about blood. "Blood on the saddles, great big puddle of blood" What the heck?
Isn't this Disney? and a kids show? These things went over my 5 year olds head, but really what were they thinking?
Thinking back, would you let your children watch the Jetsons? The Flintstones? Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner?
The Jetsons pilot featured George coming home from work, lighting a cigarette, pouring a martini, and screaming at his wife. The Flintstones actually advertised Winston Cigarettes during the show. And playing with explosives, fire, anvils, and other WMDs Wile E? Totally not PC.
Is there anyone here really "offended" by the Country Bear Jamboree? If they are then they might as well not go to Disney World.
I understand that some people had an issue about the Jungle Cruise, because the boat driver has a gun (GASP) and was shooting at the gators. On the other hand look at the Haunted Mansion, in reference to the lady killing her husband, and the Pirates of the Carribean - the Pirates that "WANT" the "REDHEAD", and what about Tom Sawyer? Sheesh.

'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me'
pretty tame."every guy that turns them on, turns them down"
A song getting quite a bit of air play has this lyric,
That kinda makes, pretty tame.
This past weekend I was a chaperone at a middle school social/dance. I guarded the DJ.The DJ only wanted one kid at a time on stage to right down song requests. I noticed that the same kids kept making requests. One little clique of older girls was obviously up to no good. Too much whispering, giggling, daring, and statements of "I will do it."
I talked with the DJ a couple of times. The kids were requesting the same songs over and over. They were songs either he did not have or he simply could not play because of the song contents. He showed me the song titles they kids had written down. I had never heard of the songs. I will have to go look them up.I certainly cannot repeat the song titles on the DIS.
Playing Blood on the Saddle would have been very clean compared to "Crank Dat" by Soulja Boy. One of the parents turned to me when this song was played. The kids loved it. So did this mom. I do not think she would like the song if she knew what the lyrics meant. This is the song that mentions "Superman" and if you listen to Pop radio you have heard this song. Google the lyrics....
Later,
Dan
No offense, but I'm sure we are talking about little kids, not middle schoolers.
Any middle schooler who is offended by "Blood on the Saddle" or Country Bears in general must not get out much.
Yep - have to agree. I find that wording unacceptable even for me. Not because it is shocking (nothing shocks me anymore), but because I don't want it turning over and over again in my mind.
Try to stick it out until Big Al's tragic performance if you can. He is really the only reason we go any more.I've never had the pleasure of watching the Country Bears. I guess we will have to see what the fuss is about when we go next time![]()
