What is up with all the moved threads?

Welcome!!!

Everyone here IS very nice, and I think that is why this means so much to so many of us. There is a lot of great information to be shared among this group. Not every post will be of use to all of us, but the ones that are can save us some big $$$!!!

:goodvibes

Thanks, Ciciwoowoo! I am excited to be here and learn!

We can now let this thread die a happy death and welcome back everyone! Webmaster Kathy has stated as long as the thread is not completely off topic, it won't be moved!

Now let us get back to work, saving some $$$$ to spend at the Mouse House!

:goodvibes

:thumbsup2

It does belong on budget. Guess the Mod made a mistake.
I'm don't actually care where posts are, and given that the WebMasters and Moderators volunteer their tome, appreciate everything they do. Plus, as many of you know, WM Kathy stated in another thread that nothing would be moved unless it's blatantly out of place. So this isn't a complaint in any way, it's just an observation :teeth:.

A few minutes ago, I skimmed the first page of the Budget Board. A thread asking about the best time to purchase airfare, even though it involved money, would actually be better on the Transportation Board. Yes, really (even for people who don't like the bluntness over there; transportation is serious business). One asking about water wings, etc., at the water parks is probably more appropriate on the Theme Parks Attractions Board, water parks being parks. And one asking about (only) the locations of Giordano's genuinely has nothing to do with budgeting.

I really, really DON'T want anything moved. These are just quick examples I found. I know people get comfortable in an environment, but the DIS has a number of forums and subforums. Possibly, if we all stop and look at the list before posting, we'll find exactly the right spot for our individual threads and get the best possible results?

I don't have a clue why people even care to report threads at all. The only thing I would ever report is spam or bad language. Do I really care if there is a thread about recipes here? Not really. I'm actually interested in recipes, so I"d probably read it, but if it was about sometimg I wasn't interested in, i'd just skip over it.

:thumbsup2

I rarely post here, mostly on the Fibro thread in Disabilities although I check for tips quite a bit;). To report a post just because it goes a bit off topic is silly. This is a conversation with a group of like minded people. Like all friends we go a bit off topic sometimes but always get back to why we came. No biggie.

I totaly get why some of you feel your community is being attacked. Many over on the Disabilities board and community board can get down right mean something I try to avoid. Each thread has its own personality. Those that dont like it should go somewhere else not try to hijack it and have it their way. Skip the parts that dont help you. Pretty easy if you ask me.

Hugs to the old timers that just want to keep a friendly, vibrant community alive. Getting to know each other sometimes means we go off topic.

For my two cents ;) If its about the process of saving, streaching or finding money to meet your needs, then it effects my budget and belongs HERE not lost in the no man's land of the community board. Isnt that the defintion of budgeting?

Just caught the post about moderator Kathy:cool1:

Yea for all you guys that keep the budget threads alive!. :lovestruc

I'll be quietly surfing your way soon.:goodvibes

It looks like there's only one regular Moderator here...

Unless she's moderating without posting, she's not around and hasn't been for a long time. Last time she posted was in '09. And people have been complaining since around then that there's been no one to help.

It *seems* that they've been taken care of, but right around the time that everything started getting moved, there were LONG-dead swap threads continuing to be resurrected (by people who weren't reading the title or the first post of the threads) by people wanting to join...like swaps that hadn't had a thing to swap in a year, with people asking for the threads to be closed, but still getting replies. That was frustrating for me to watch. And then everything started getting moved like crazy.

Long time budget board girl here . I think there are more that are ok with a general budget topic here than they realize.

I know I am. I don't have a problem skipping past things that aren't interesting to me, and if there's not "enough" for me to look at on page 1 I can go back a page or two.

Can we get guidelines then of what can be posted here, instead of what should not be posted? From my understanding of the previous posts in this thread anything related to parks, hotels, tickets, cooking, hobbies, trip planning, and retirement planning can not be posted here. What should we be posting then?:confused3

I think that solid guidelines would be a good idea.

We have been receiving daily complaints from a number of regular Budget Board posters about the non-Budget threads that are "allowed" to be on the forum, making it difficult to find the budget topics.

Compared to the number of people reporting things, how many of us are NOT reporting them though? I'm sure the vast majority of us are not, which means that we are OK with the posts. I report *spam*, and as far as I can immediately remember, that's about it. It's easy enough to just skip through something that isn't interesting. And the Budget people will almost always have solid opinions on just about any question put here. Other boards aren't as busy, and people are pickier about what they answer. And on the CB it's harder to catch the attention unless you're REALLY interesting, which many quasi-budget-related things are not.

I agree!! On the Budget Board I've learned how to dry out a wet cell phone...saved me money. I found a clearance Star Wars lunch box...saved me money. I found some great recipes...didn't save me money, but I enjoyed them. I'm thinking some people must have A LOT of extra time on their hands to report threads for not being 'their interpretation' of budget related.

So glad to see WebMaster Kathy's statement! Let the saving continue!!!!:goodvibes
