I just turned on Disney and there is an odd looking movie: Sharkboy and Lavagirl. It is very cartoonish. Worth watching or should I turn on Law and Order!?!?!

Are you under 10? If so, you may love it. My son thought it was great, and to its credit it was one of those few movies that doesn't feel it has to appeal to the parents. I was bored witless, but DS came bounding out of the theater when we saw it.

TURN THE CHANNEL. Seriously. That movie is HORRID. Ugh... there are very few movies that are so stupid they make my head hurt.. This is one of them.

No, I am in my mid-20's. Am thinking Law and Order it is! :cool1:

This was in the theatre??? Wow!

Oh yeah. In 3D. I think it was written by Rodriguez's kid. I actually think it's a good movie for its extremely limited audience.

Haha! I think you may be right!! The five minutes I gave it, Lavagirl was about to fight with Firegirl??? (I guess they are arch enemies!). Wow... I usually can stand Disney movies, even the bad made for TV ones such as Sky High, but this may be my limit :lmao: And yes, I am home on a Friday night...

Well, in 3D it could have a psychedelic feel. No??? Ok, I am grasping for straws.

I turned on Law and Order!

:scared1: OMG!!! DO NOT WATCH THAT!!!!! Get the TV on something very very adult.....:lmao:

My 8yo brother loves Sharkboy and Lavagirl, on the other hand.:headache:

This is one of my 5 & 10 year-old boys favorite movies. I can't stand it!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: RUN!!!!!!!!

I HATE that movie but DD, 8 1/2yo loves it so I made her go in another room to watch it because I refuse! YUCK!

Just so you know: Shark Boy grew up to play (the very HOT) Jacob in Twilight. My dd informed me of that fact after the mom next to me and I were salivating over him.

:scared: :lmao:

I've seen my kids watch it but I just can't do it.

Yes. I really wanted to leave the theater. It was one of the worst movies I had ever seen.

OMG, I just about cried when my dd proved it to me. Fortunately, I was mentally thinking about the kid, not Sharkboy. I do confess that the tv was on to it tonight (no one was watching), and I happened to pass as he was baring his shark-teeth. :rotfl2:

Ugh. I was forced to watch this movie when I was chaperone for a karate summer camp. We all went because the Sharkboy kid is well known in the martial arts community. However, the movie was an absolute misery. Very lame and stupid. Definitely for the under-8 crowd. :headache:

That's correct, it was written by his kid, I remember seeing an interview about it...so thats why it's good for that age group, but not any other one

The 3-D is pretty good though. We bought it for the kids and it came with like 4 pair of 3-d glasses in the case. I cant see watching it for anything but the effects though, and even those are likely to cause seizures and dizziness, but still..the kids seemed to enjoy it.
