Hi All.. .I'm trying to find out the name of a word puzzle...can anyone help?

It's in some newspapers....(I think I remember it from the Sunday paper when we were in Orlando).
It's words in a square box.....here's an example

MEREPEAT (answer - repeat after me)

FAREDCE (answer - red in the face)

R
Y
S (answer -syrup)

What is the name of this game/brain teaser? Does anyone know? And where do you think I could find more of them?

thank you for any help you can give me....this is a summer puzzle challenge I'm doing with my teenage grandkids!! barb

In the UK, these are called Dingbats.

Not sure if it's the same over there.

Thank you so much.....and especially for the link!!
I think I can outsmart them!! LOL barb:cheer2:

We have these "puzzles" in a game board. It's called Whatzit.

The ones in the USA Weekend supplement that we get with the Sunday paper are called Frame Games by Terry Stickels.

Alright, Dis'ers...let's finish this out. I can't stand not remembering the rest.

I keep thinking this one is a typo and should be:

7 D with the SW 7 Dwarfs with Snow White

This is all that is left to solve (and then I will save the answers!):

7 D with the SW
5 T on a C (incl. the S in the T)
8 S on a SS
1 W on a U
5 D in a ZC
4 S on a V

8 S on a SS = 8 sides on a stop sign?

1 W on a U = 1 wheel on a unicycle?
