Since we have to make the special trip over for the meal what else is there to do in the area?

Just looking around the lobby is fabulous. the theming indoors and out is worth the trip over. i believe there are hidden mickeys around too. there's adorable topiaries outside. I'm not sure, but i've heard the large fireplace is burning even in the summer:confused3

There's a shop inside with WL specific stuff. The geyser between the lake and the pool is fun. You could also walk or boat over to FW.

My dd's liked taking the boat over to WL from Mk, so after Whispering Canyon you could take the boat back over to MK and then catch the buses if you didn't want to go there. There is also supposed to be a water parade that goes by there after 9:00. Somewhere in another thread is tells about this. We've never tried it, but we are going to try to see it from 1900 Park Fare our first night. We love Whispering Canyon, I loved being able to see the lodge. It's awesome! Just too expensive for this family of 5.

We are also planning on eating dinner at WCC on our next trip.
As PP mentioned, FW is close by. We are planning on taking our DDs there
before dinner and letting the older one do a pony ride and check out the
petting farm. I see that you have kids too...not sure if this would be
something they are interested in. There is a weight and/or height
restriction on the pony rides...not sure what this is
