What is the Turf Club like?

I made this same post a couple of weeks ago and got no response.
I'm hoping that it was a fluke and not a sign of resturant quality. My DW, DD (5) and myself have ADR's there next month. Does anyone have any opinions of the Turf Club? Thanks in advance.

I really like it, but dh isn't so keen. I think his opinion is coloured by his choice of entree, though. He went for the Prime Rib which was very fatty - he thought he would like it because he tends towards steaks with flavour and he eats the lot. I prefer lean meat and usually opt for fillet mignon. I had chicken and risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We're DVC members and our home resort is SSR. My biggest problem with it is that it doesn't have a decent bar. The Turf Club bar is over-run with kids, and folks waiting for their ADRs at the Turf Club Grill. The bar is a hole in the wall in the style of a canteen hatch .

The restaurant itself, though, is good, IMHO. I'm not sure I'd make a trip to SSR to experience it, but if you're there anyway I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We love Turf Club. Here is my review I posted on another site:

After a long day at MGM, we switched around some ADRs and easily got a late dinner time at TC. I was worried that the menu was on the small side but found that it was just right. The restaurant was not very busy, which gave each and every cast member time to be friendly.
We were on the dining plan, so endulged in four different appetizers all of which were outstanding. I had the sirloin with crab which was cooked just as ordered. My DH had the Penne with shrimp which was also outstanding. The other couple both had BBQ Ribs, which were good but more of the Texas style which is not what we are really used to.
The Apple Pie and Lava Cake were both to die for! We voted the Apple Pie the best dessert of our trip to WDW. Oh..and don't forget that the non alcoholic drinks are also included on the meal plan...the sour apple freeze packs a great pucker!
Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere! If you are looking for a nice relaxing dinner away from the hustle of WDW...The Turf Club is the place. Even more perfect if you are staying at SSR.

I have to say that I'm a big fan of the Turf Club. We're DVC members and our home resort is SSR. I love eating here and have done so on numerous occasions and not been dissappointed with either the food or the service. The last time we were there I had the Crab Cakes, Spiced Salmon Salad, followed by the New York Style Cheesecake. My partner had the Onion Rings with Dips, The Ribeye Steak Sandwich and the Chocolate Lava Cake. (We went there for lunch) All was well presented and tasted delicious.
We have also eaten there for dinner and have had the same quality of food and service. Hope this helps.

We didn't care for the Turf Club. After waiting over 45 minutes for a table, and that was with an ADR, and just as long trying to get a drink from the one cocktail waitress who appeared to be trying to serve the restaurant and the
waiting/lounge area and make the drinks herself, we didn't care for the food. It was just "okay". The waiter was rushed and kept promising my niece some crayons each time he came by; she never got them. I suppose they were probably short handed that night, and we could have forgiven that and tried it again, but the food just wasn't good enough to give it another shot.

We are DVC members and this past June we ate there twice since we were staying at SSR. I had made one ADR and then one evening we walked down without one and we were still able to get a table. I have to say that the meal was very good, the staff were very nice and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We had the ultimate critics-ages-10,11,19,21, DH and I. Everyone was pleased with their choices and sometimes that is not easy with 2DS and 2DSD.

We had lunch there a week or so ago. The food was generally very good, although the steak sandwich was so so. And it was relatively quiet. What surprised us was the staff seemed shorthanded or something. The place was nearly empty and yet it took a long while to seat us and to serve us and there seemed to be a certain amount of annoyance that we wanted to sit down and eat. We wanted to eat out on the terrace but the hostess told us we'd have to wait even longer if we sat out there. I agree the bar is inconvenient -- more like just a window/counter rather than a bar.

We went there last week. The service was nice, but the menu is a bit limited.

This really seemed like an after-golf watering hole attempting to do business as a full-service restaurant. This place was expanded to full service after saratoga springs guests complained of not having a full-service restaurant in the sprawling property.

If you're staying at Saratoga, it's worth going for lunch or dinner one time. If you're staying elsewhere, this doesn't warrant a special trip.

It's an OK place to eat at if you are staying at SSR; however, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

Not sure would come here if not staying at SSR but we intend to stay at SSR most trips so would definately come here at least once a trip.

We stayed in August and could not get a walk in but after getting an ADR another night we really enjoyed our night out. Good choice of cocktails and enjoyed the atmosphere. quite liked the small bar felt kind of cosy and our waitress and food were both excellent.

A great night out and a short stagger back to our room.
