This is our first trip to Disneyworld and we are leaving in 3 weeks  . We are driving down there. We are a family of 5. We have a 2 1/2 year old DD, 7 year old DD and 9 year old DD. I have no Idea what to take down there other then the basic clothes and toiletries. What is the things you have to bring with you in the parks?? I don't want to forget anything and then get down there and have to buy it. I rather buy it up here and take it with us. We are staying at the Poly and I don't know if they would have specific stuff and if it would be high. So please any tips will be great I am stressing out trying to get everything ready to go.

Thanks a bunch!!!!

I have to have zip loc bags, band aids, anti bacterial soap or wipes, kids flushable wipes, dollar store shoe racks, dollar store ponchos, and misty spray/fans. THat's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I got ours at Disney two years ago but I saw them recently at Linens and Things, and I know that some people have gotten them at Walmart or Target.

Brita water bottle with a filter the water tastes horrible or bring bottled water and snacks for the kids.

I was going to bring a big case of bottled water because I always do when I am traveling. I don't like the water in most places. We are staying concierge so I was thinking the kids can get snacks there.

I always bring a variety of medicines for myself and the kids. They are outragously expensive at the resorts and I would rather have them with me and not need them.

Medical insurance cards!

Bring wet wipes! They're great when kids are eating Mickey ice cream bars. I also always carry basic medicine like advil and tylenol.

Bring moleskin and folding scissors, bandaids, anti-itch cream (for mosquito bites), neosporin if you get a boo-boo. Put it all in a little ziploc bag and you're good to go.

Since it's still the heat of summer, go to Walmart and get some misty fan bottles or at the very least handheld fans (they're $1 at Walmart).

If you decide to do laundry while you're there, don't forget to pack detergent and fabric softener. Target has liquid Tide in a bottle enough for 4 loads. Take a roll of quarters or two with you for the machines.

I would say make sure you have first aid stuff (because you just never really know what might happen), a fan, a camera (plus film or memory cards), sunscreen / sunblock, ponchos, sunglasses, hat, extra shoes / socks, and quick and easy snacks.

If your children are into the pressed penney machines I would bring a roll (or two) of quarters and pennies. You never seem to have enough change on you when you find a machine. ::MinnieMo

Since you have 3 kids I would bring a two-way radio. You and your DH might want to split up so the 7 and 9 yr olds can ride their rides!!!! This seemed to work better than our cell phones, we didn't have great reception in some of the parks.

Ditto the kids' and adults' medicine, and I'd bring a thermometer. DD got sick last year and it was nice to be able to take her temp and give her tylenol to keep her fever down until morning when we could go to the walk-in clinic. Also, don't forget the perscription cards if they are separate from your medical insurance card.

Since you are driving, you wouldn't be stuck having to purchase things at the Poly. You could go to Walmart or Publix and get things if you found you REALLY needed something. I have often found though, that if I didn't bring it, I didn't miss it. When we go to the parks, I bring the ponchos, small diaper bag with wipes and 2 pull-up, DS pressed penny book, and sunscreen.

Thanks everyone for all your tips. Keep them coming. I am writing these all down and making a list.

If you like Pepsi, take that. We just can't stand Coke for more than a day. It was so nice to go back to the room and have a cold Pepsi.

Also, do not over buy. I always seem to take a bit too much. I read about a great idea, run out and buy it, and then find out it just did not work for us. Since you will have a car, you can always make a run to Target or the store. That is a great way to get away for an hour or so. The resort is well marked and we got great directions from the front desk.

Bug spray! The mosquitos and bugs come out at dusk - so be prepared. I like using Off! Botanicals because it's plant based and smells nice so the kids don't complain.

Wow, I've never noticed mosquitos at Disney...are they really bad this year? There are so many people it seems like your chances of being bitten would be few because there is such a smorgasboard available for the critters!! Is this really an issue? I want to be prepared....

Also, does anyone have a GOOD refillable water bottle that doesn't leak??

I'm just a big mosquito magnet so I'm always carrying bug spray.

as far as water bottles with filter, I found this site - looks like a good alternative to Brita, especially the filter that fits regular sized water bottles.

MY PILLOWS.

If I were driving I would pack them in the car before my kids.... I always look funny walking into a hotel in NY city w/ my pillows under my arm. :rotfl2:
