Just thought I would start a new topic for everyone to play with: What did you miss the most when you disembarked your cruise?

I really miss the waitstaff from our past cruise. We not only had our servers, but also other servers come and play with us. It was loads of fun! I really miss them! If anyone sees Ivan from Croatia, Prudence from Jamaica, Adrien from England, Mark from England, or Nadeem (can't remember where he is from) tell them that Rory, Jenn, Tricia, and Jane say hello!

There is nothing more peacefull to me than sitting on the veranda, whether it be while reading a book or at night in the dark.. all my stress just evaporates while on it. If I had my way I would not even leave the cabin just spend a week in solitude on the veranda :)

I missed being able to eat and drink anything and everything I wanted, and not exercising. After the cruise it was back to the old routine.

I miss not having to cook and being served such wonderful meals.

When I'm on the cruise, I feel like royalty.:D

I miss the magic - I don't mean the ship but the special feeling that you get when you board and lasts until you disembark at the Cape again. I love every minute that I am on the ship - while it is great to get off and explore the various ports the feeling intensifies when I get back on.

Yeah, one nutty gal - that would be me!

I'm with Ann, I miss my veranda. We usually do the Navigators Veranda and I love sitting on the bench reading a book. A great place to spend some time on a sea day. At night just looking out at the water and sky - really peaceful. We were blessed on our last cruise with a full lunar eclipse and it was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. Spent a good two hours out on the veranda just looking at all the stars.

how does Jimmy say it?
"so many nights Ive dreamed of the ocean - God I wish I was sailing again"

Been dreaming of getting on the ocean again since Dec 01 - hopefully it wont be too much longer

I miss being one of the first ones up and getting my coffee from deck 9 early in the morning. Even though we had a verandah (which I loved!), it was so peacesful to walk around on deck 9, peering out at the ocean over the railings, with so very few people around. It's one of those feelings that you wish you could hold on to forever.:boat:

I miss the civility of it all. Getting dressed for dinner (even when it was just into a casual outfit ~ the weather was so hot I usually needed to change) and then going out to a show and then to a club after. I loved having childcare within arms reach where he didn't want to leave but knowing I could be there in minutes. And when my evening was over, I could just walk a few steps and I was at my cabin door. I miss feeling like this was the life I was truly meant to live.::yes::

I miss my early morning appt.(6-7am) with the hot tub, coffee, and croisant while watching the sun rise. It is just soooo quiet and peaceful!

.....listening to DD tell of all the fun things she did in the club or lab all day long.
What I really miss the most: going to the restaurants, getting served whatever I wanted and walking away from the table without paying a bill. Reality sets in real quick that first meal out when you are off the ship that you have to pay.

I've been sitting here trying to think of the one thing I miss the most. I just can't do it. I miss it ALL!
the food
the people
the music
the atmosphere
the childcare
the special drinks
the snorkeling
do I have to go on?

This pretty much sums it up for me. I did also enjoy getting dressed up for dinner, which I didn't think I would. I'm more of the jeans and t-shirt crowd, but seeing my DD each night dressed to the nine's, it was a sight to behold. The week of our cruise was the first DD had been in dresses in over two years, I can't believe how much she has grown up since the last time she wore a dress. I also enjoyed being able to have my Dmom, Dsis, and Dniece join, DW, DD, and I on the cruise, we had some "MAGICal "Family Time" together!!!

Tinkerbell...was your Mark our Mark?? Mark Green? We loved him. His partner was Mladen from Croatia who was an absolute gem. My daugter felt like she'd lost her best friends when we left.

my3kids - Yes, my Mark was your Mark. He was so awesome! We weren't assigned to him or anything...but we did happen to get him for all our lunch seatings. Poor bloke...must have thought we were stalking him!:teeth:

in no particular order....

the dressing for dinner every night, all the ladies and gentlemen of all ages....

the comradarie with stangers (at least they were strangers until that first hello)...

all the smiles....everywhere...all the time

the fabulous crew...

the sunshine.....

the friendships that were made....

the laughter.....

forgetting all the walls and barriers that we place around us any other time .....

and a BIG thank you to the Captain...the best designated driver ever....

i miss the ships horn. gooing around the ship by myshelf

I really miss the warm climate this time of year. I also agree about the "magic" that is found on the ship.

Good thread topic Rory!! Way to go girl! Miss you!

I miss the OCEAN as far as the eye can see, the warm weather, coffee in my DCL mug as I walk the decks at all hours of the day, meals presented the way I want them, people who smile, snorkeling, someone else making the bed and cleaning the toilet, great shows, knowing my way around but still being able to find something new.

I may think of more, but that is it for now,

Give my best to Jane,
Jan :earsgirl:
