I thought I read on a thread that it had to do with a broken hearted bride???? I love this ride and would love to know the story behind it.

There is a story of Carlotta, the bride to Master Gracie, owner of the Mansion. I would recommend that you do the VMK quests in the MK and turn in 3. After that you are entitled to a FREE VMK tour. On the tour, you will hear the story and get to go in the back entrance for the ride. Very cool thing to do.

Something about --

Master Gracy married. Something bad happened (sorry, my memory is fuzzy to what) and she tried to hide from him by hiding in a trunk in the attic. Part of her wedding dress was sticking out from the lid and Master Gracy saw it and locked her in the trunk, where it is assumed she died. In the attic scene of the mansion, next to the ghost bride, you can see a trunk with a bit of dress hanging out (although the trunk is very short). It is also said that he threw a wedding ring from the manor and there is an impression of it in the cement to this day (I've seen what is called the ring. Could be a ring, could be the remenents of and old pole).

There's more, I'm sure.

There are a lot of variations on the story-

My favorite version is the one where Master Gracey was a pirate who married quite a few women during his pirate days (al of whom died), but finally found one who he wanted to settle down with. However, one day when he came back to the mansion, just before their wedding, he found her in the attic with another man. He was so angry that he pulled out his sword and decapitated the man, who was actually just the hat maker there preparing things for the wedding. His fiance was so mad at him for doing this that she threw her wedding ring out the window and then jumped out (or was pushed out, depending on the version).

Master Gracey, heartbroken that he had just screwed up things with the love of his life then hung himself in the portrait room, where his body still hangs.

I went on the KTTK tour this past May and the story our tour guide told was that Master Gracey fell in love with a beautiful girl named Cece and asked his housekeeper (Madame Leota) to befriend her. What he didn't know was that Madam Leota was in love with him herself and even though she agreed to befriend Cece, in reality she was plotting to win him for herself. Time passed, a ball was held the night before the wedding, and after the party Madam Leota went upstairs to check on Cece. She found her trying on her wedding dress, realized time had run out, and became enraged. She went downstairs, prepared Cece a drink, and poisoned her. She then hid her body in the trunk in the attic (the edge of the wedding dress still hangs out of the trunk). She thought Master Gracey would then fall in love with her, but he didn't. In her rage she went back up to the attic, took the ring from Cece's finger, flung it from the attic window, then threw the key to the attic away. (Note-If you go out the chicken exit there is a rack with a bunch of keys on it--the only key missing is the key to the attic.) You can see the ring in the pavement as you exit the ride, but the attic key was never found. Time passed and both Master Gracey and Madam Leota died. The mansion then stayed vacant (and haunted) for many years. The mansion is supposed to be in the Hudson River valley, by the way (not Florida).

Years later we are supposed to come upon this deserted mansion alone in the Hudson River valley. As we enter at first we are supposed to wonder if we really see ghosts or if we are just imagining it. Later at the ballroom scene we really see the ghosts. As we enter the attic the ghost of Cece sees us. She is furious someone ruined her wedding and killed her. She doesn't know who, but assumes it is us. In her anger she pushes us out the attic and kills us, (note: this is where the doom buggies turn backward's and tilts). We then see the scared caretaker and his dog. He is not afraid of the graveyard scene like most people think. What scares him is that he saw us falling out of the attic and dying. At the end Madam Leota tells us to go, but to return, as there is always room for one more haunt. What she is saying is that we are dead, go get our death certificates and return.

Just in case you didn't know there is a hidden Donald and three hidden Mickey's on this ride. The hidden Donald is on the back of a chair, two hidden Mickey's are in the ballroom scene, and the other hidden Mickey is in the hand of the Viking (across from the opera singer) in the graveyard scene.

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question...aubriee you mentioned 2 hidden mickeys in the dinig room...I believe one is the place setting at the left corner of the table....does anyone know where the other is? I'll be there next month and would like to try and find it...silly I know! :teeth: Thanks everyone....this has been a fun and interesting thread to read!
