Most of the news coverage on the hurricane was centered on the coastal areas of Florida. What was the situation in Orlando, was there alot of damage caused. Trying to contact friends in Orlando on holiday but cant reach them.Hope the main storm passed through without causing as much damage as it did on the coast. Any news would be welcomed.

I've been in contact with friends in the greater Orlando area since late Friday night.

Here's a rundown...

Northern Davenport near the four corners was spared except for some minor cosmetic type stuff (smaller tree branches down, newly sodded lawns missing some pieces of sod, etc.) Some home lost phone service briefly, but power stayed on.

Clermont and Windemere, no damage reported by any one I've talked to that live in that area. No utility loss. My friend called me after going to my house to check on it and said "there's not a leaf on the ground."

Kissimmee, depends on the area. Some areas (especially over near the Polk County line) were hit hard. Poincina Blvd. has lots of downed wires and trees. Some homes in that area and going towards Haines City have major structural damage. No power is on, although some homes have phone service. There is no indication of when the power will be back on.

There was some damage at the Airport (MCO) as well as some damage to TL and the WL lobby. Pop, the All Stars, BC/YC/BW are all fine, and actually several cast members who live in affected areas are currently staying at Pop until their power comes back on. A sign blew down at the BC.

I know it's certainly not complete, but I'm only writing what I've talked to friends about and gotten first hand reports on.

BTW--For anyone concerned about missing relatives, you are asked to contact your local Red Cross. They will use their channels to try to locate your relatives and will report back to you.

Love the new house!!!!!!! You have taste similar to mine. This trip we are going to look at houses, we have been considering a move to Orlando as well.

You may not be able to reach family and friends because thousands of homes are still without power and phone service in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. I live near the new JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton and we had extensive damage from the hurricane. I was lucky to be without electricity for only 24 hrs. My cable TV was restored yesterday. The wind gusts at the airport hit 105 mph and the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that it may take up to a year to complete repairs at OIA. Anyone to the east of the I-4 corridor in particular suffered the worst damage.
