What is the rule about saving a seat by the pool?

That is a brilliant idea. I'll make some and bring them with me in Feruary. VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!!

Why not use some super glue so they wont be able to remove it from their items. That way they will forever be marked as a lounge hog like just like in the olden days with the Scarlet letter.

Super glue ends up more on me than the intended item. The offenders would know when they saw me at dinner with my fingers stuck together.

I took my daughter who was 5 when we cruised on the Fantasy in June (now 6) to the pool every morning. We put our cover-ups and flip flops into my beach bag, and I set it next to the wall near the pool deck. Didn't take up a chair, wasn't in anyone's way, didn't get wet. It was a great solution for us, since I knew I would be sitting near the Mickey pool with her.

Wouldn't work for a lot of bags, however, since there just isn't room for them.

Ooooh, I despise chair hoggers.....anywhere! It's so rude. IF you don't plan on sitting in the chair, don't save it! Or, how about having the entire family share a chair if you won't be sitting in it much?

Yeap! This..I use the 30 minute rule.............30 minutes and the stuff is given to a CM........AKK

On the June 16th Eastern, there was a CM who was constantly walking around tidying up the pool deck, restocking towels, etc. He would periodically walk around & remove the DCL white pool towels from chairs that had been vacant for ~ 30 min or so. He never came near anyone's personal belongings, just the white DCL towels that were on the chairs. We spent ~3-4 hrs on deck all 3 sea day mornings, and never once did we see anyone come back looking for "their" chairs.

Good stuff!!

On our Fantasy Eastern last month, we never had an issue with chair hoggers. I'm sure there were empty chairs with stuff on them, but I never paid that much attention to it as we always found a place to sit whether we arrived at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm. We sat in both the adult area and the kids areas at various times during the day. We honestly felt the pools were less crowded than the Classic ships. Perhaps it was just our cruise and we got lucky, but I thought the Fantasy did a better job of dispersing guests with all of the different areas on the Top 2 decks.

The Navigator is pretty clear that saving seats is not permitted, but with so many things DCL, they can be fairly lax with enforcement.

Regarding little signs put on items used to save chairs...

Already done! I printed 'em on sticky paper and ran 'em through the paper cutter.... pre-made, ready to stick onto the item(s). Quick and easy (and NON confrontational). I know, a lot of people won't care, but I'LL be having fun!

:eek:Sorry, I know that this thread has been fun for some and I have been biting my tongue but I just have to say that is destruction of someone's property. Have you ever tried taking a sticky price tag off an item and sometimes it is nearly impossible. I do not see humor in that at all. Period.

I really don't think the stickiness of a Post-It Note is going to ruin anybody's stuff. I can't imagine the person is using or planning to use any kind of goop or damaging material.

You're exactly right. Sorry for the distress in Colorado jiminiC_fan. Such a shame.

The PP said sticky paper. Did not say Post it's. I agree that Post it's is not a problem per se other than blowing around. Sticky paper is.

Editing to add that she said printed them and used a paper cutter. I've never known anyone print out on a post it note but I could be wrong. She also said that she cut it down further.

Why am I thinking you are going on the same cruise as chateau and are a lounge hog (jk)

Nope, not going on that cruise. I have a dummy date but am waiting for a better itinerary. By the way GoofytwinDad, I am mother of twins and a grandma to two sets of twins. Fun, fun!

I think poster meant going to the pool and peeing is the same thing. As in going into the pool and pee.

Pool=pee...It's funny 'cause it's true ;) Also, sarcasm, like any language, takes years to master as a second language. On the other hand, my kids are native speakers...Wonder where they got it from?

Actually, I love sarcasm, but you never know when people are being sarcastic or when they truly don't know esp when it is just in written form. Was just trying to help... :wave2:

There should be a sarcasm smiley. pirate: That might work!

To bring myself back 'round to the topic, I am taking notes for my Sept. cruise. I may just end up moving an abandoned sunbathing flip flop or two so I can sit close enough to monitor my kids in the pool. If anyone comments, I'll be sure to direct them to the nearest CM. Then I might have to buy that CM a drink for their trouble...
