What is the procedure on renting?

Hi... Not sure if this is where I should be.... What is the procedure that most people take to rent their points/reservation?.... How is this handled?

this board, redweek, tug are good places to advertise - so is work if you can.

after I am contacted I make the reservation. I send to the rentee the reservation confirmation at that time I ask for 50%.

then at 90 or 60 days before they departure I ask for the reminder. (if they make the reservation after the 60 day mark - I ask at the 35 day)

I have a contract if they want one.

I also allow paying with a personal check. Some people want a certificated check or paypal.

It's not clear from your post whether you are an owner wanting to rent out points, or a vacationer wanting to rent points from an owner. In either event, you are in the right place.

The first thing you should do is go to the Rent/Trade Board and read the FAQ and "A Word to the Wise." If you have specific questions after doing that, come back here and ask.

It helps if you have a few extra points to play with, too. If you determine that you are going to rent 150 pts, you could end up with 3 renters who each want 60 pts. What are you going to do? Well, I usually go into next year's points, which can mess up next year's vacation. It works better to have extra points.

Yes, transfering points to another member can be the easiest if you can't use points yourself. That way, you don't have to mess with calling MS all the time .

After three trips to Disney this year, I thought we were done!However, we are headed to Ft. Lauderdale in Nov., and thought we'd drive up to Disney for 2-3 days. I am interested in renting/getting transferred enough points for a studio for the nights of Nov. 8 and 9. Can anyone help me? I've never done this before!

I have a real quick question along this same line... My wife and I are looking to do a cruise either in 2006 or 2007, and I know from browsing through some of the threads that it is more cost effective to rent or transfer our points rather than use them for the cruise. So my question is how early do you start to list your points for rent or transfer? If we were to go in 2007 would we have to wait until our Aug use year rolls around to list our points? Or would we just rent out those points, and just borrow them now to use for someone? If anyone could help elaborate on sort of the process that would be great because I think this is really an option we really want to pursue.
