We are going to Disney Nov 5 thru 10 and staying at POR. This will be our first trip to Disney with our kids.

Also, can you use the pool at POFQ if you are staying at POR?

There are 5 quiet pools at POR. The main pool is located in the center of the resort on an island. It is more rustic looking than POFQ. It has a slide (as all moderate and deluxe resorts do). It is bigger in size (I believe) than the POFQ pool and not quite as busy. Yes, you can use both pools if you are staying at either of these resorts.

You didn't mention how old your kids are. If they are very young they would probably enjoy POFQ. It is decorated for the younger children in my opinion.

I was there in June with my 7 and 10 yr. old. They loved the main pool at POR. The quiet pools didn't appeal to them because they like the slides. My son liked the bucket of water that dumps down on you. My kid would probably rate this pool higher than some of the deluxe resorts we've stayed at (eg. AKL, WL). Another great moderate pool was the Coronado Springs. The water slide is in a pyramid.

Yes--you can use both themed pools at Port Orleans.

We were at Old Man Island (the pool at POR) nearly every day of our trip, and my kids (9 and 7) LOVED it! They loved the slide and the splashing bucket. Muddy Rivers is a nice poolside bar.

We used one of the quiet pools at POR once, when we were doing laundry. The laundry rooms are next to the quiet pools. It was a nice pool, but my kids liked the pools with the slides better.

One time we used the pool at POFQ and it has a colorful slide. My kids enjoyed it there very much, too. It has a fun Marti Gras theme.

If you have time, give both pools a try during your stay.

My wife and I recently returned from Disney World October 2-7th.
We stayed at POFQ and loved the pool. We didn't visit the pool at
POR but we found out that the hot tub at POR is down for repair.

Guests staying at POFQ or POR can share the various pools and
amenities from both locations. My wife loved the pool and even
used the water slide at POFQ.

In either case: Enjoy your stay.

Yes you can use the pools from both resorts if you stay in either Port Orleans.

We stayed at POR in July and had a great time. We did use both pools during the week. You can take the boats between the resorts to use the pools (the same boats that take you to DD). There is also a pleasant walk along the river you can take between them - it wasn't that far for us, but if you are staying in the far reaches of Alligator Bayou it could be pretty far.

The Ol' Man Island pool never seems to get any hype, so I didn't expect much. It was really nice and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it is on par with the pools at AKL & WL. I'd say the slide at POR is faster than those two. One of our big considerations when picking a resort is the pool and I would recommend the Port Orleans complex to anyone.

Ol' Man Island has a slide, water falling from a flume and several other jets of water spewing around. There is even a kitchen sink fountain. There is a kiddie pool on one side and a nicely shaded large themed play area on the other. We stayed in Magnolia Terrace on the side facing the river, which was great because we were right across the bridge from the pool. Its water slide is longer and faster than POFQ and it was a bit intimidating to DS-5 at first. I think he was nervous since he couldn't see the bottom from the top. After he did it one time we couldn't keep him off of it.

The serpent slide at POFQ is less intimidating and nicely themed. The pool there was less crowded and less rowdy in our experience. There is not as much shade around Doubloon Lagoon either.

Thanks for the info. My kids are 9, 7, and 3 1/2. I am sure they will enjoy the themed pool at POR. I do hope to use at least one day to play in the pool and explore a little of Downtown Disney. Now if the weather will cooperate for the first week of November, LOL.
