What is the ONE thing you would change about DVC, DVC rules?

I didnt realize they could stop allowing banking/borrowing. Learn something new every day here

Yes, they can suspend it or change the % if it’s because there is an issue.

It’s one of things that some believe DVC might do in the last few years of the contracts.

I would love it if they converted some of the moderate resorts to DVC. They’ve done it with resorts like Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge so I don’t see why they couldn’t do it with Caribbean Beach & Port Orleans etc. Hopefully one day 🤞🏼

I get that there needed to be a near equilibrium, and only Disney knows what that balance is, but if I borrow points and then cancel the trip, isn't that the same as never having made that reservation at all? How do those points contribute to an imbalance of they are moved back to the original use year? Seems like they'd cause more of a problem by forcing them into the previous use year. What am I missing?

Steve

Because the currently allow people to bank 100% of their points because people borrow points at the same time.

Remember, number of rooms is finite. Let’s say there are 100 rooms and to book them all, you need 1000 points.

When people bank, you now take one of those 100 rooms using points that were tied to that room the year before.

There is only a spot because someone else moved their points forward by borrowing to take the room from the year of your points.

If everyone banks and returns borrowed points, too many points for rooms.

And, when someone cancels the room, it leaves it open and there may not be anyone who can use it because they banked points already because someone tied up the room with borrowed points.

How do those points contribute to an imbalance of they are moved back to the original use year?
I don't think they are moved back. Borrowed points are borrowed, period.

I am not 100% sure about that---Wyndham does move them back, and sometimes I get the two mixed up.

However, banking and borrowing do not need to balance perfectly, because breakage exists (and is probably more significant than we think.)

@lowlight and @xdan0920 will likely stop by here and say eliminate walking.

Just a crazy guess.
Actually no. Walking, while extremely aggravating, wouldn’t be my one change.

My one change would be to eliminate any form of commercial renting. Including using a 3rd party website to rent your points.

Id also really crack down on anyone engaging in a pattern of rental activity. Aka renting every year. Renting a large percentage of your points. Renting multiple reservations in a year.

That would be my “change”

Bring on the tower at Coronado and French Quarter. Those two specifically I’d totally be okay with it

Well, it seems like the updated transfer rules with the elimination of owners being able to transfer more than once between their own memberships was done as a step.

Still learning all the ins and out of DVC as a new member, but I am an experienced traveller to Disney so mine would be that rooms are ready no later than 4pm! Nothing worse than spending the whole day traveling only to have to wait until 5...6....or even 7pm to have your room ready!

100% agree with this. They should technically be ready by per the terms I think. It's rather ridiculous if they are not.

This is a good idea. I mean most people are booking and canceling and Im sure they know that, why not just eliminate the extra step.

Yes. This would helpful

Chat wont populate for me if I am on my VPN.
It doesn't populate for me either and I'm not on a vpn so weird

I totally agree. On purpose. They want more contracts purchased. Nope. Can't do, not wise for me.
Yes because if you don't keep track of it yourself (which we shouldnt have to) then very easy to forget how many you actually have and they could expire. Why can't we transfer them back if we don't use it?
