What is the normal AAA discount?

DH is thinking since we're getting a little older we should get AAA. I'm thinking *cha-ching*! Discount for Disney.

What is the normal discount rate for AAA members? Is there one or is it random?

Anyone who has AAA & could relay some information on their services, I'd be grateful to read it.

The AAA discount is between 10 and 20 percent, depending on the resort level and season.
We belong to AAA and use it for many discounts other than at Disney. there are discounts for movies, book stores, car service, eye glasses and on and on. If you try a little bit, you can usually get enough discounts throughout the year to get back your membership fees. There are also discounts on other hotels for when you travel places other than disney.

Thank you! I didn't know there were discounts for other than travel-related things. That's good to know. If we get AAA I plan to meet with an agent to learn as much as I can.

As far as I can tell, our upcoming trip price not include ANY discount, even though I booked through AAA. I guess we missed out on the window of discounted rooms? We made our plans on January 4, 2008 for a December 30, 2008 arrival, but if packages for that time were available as far back as August 2007, it's not surprising there weren't any discounted rooms available, if they have a limited number on offer.

I guess I'm saying having AAA alone may not get you a Disney discount on a resort room, and most of the other "discounts" are for things that we don't use -- a day of golf, sea ray rental, etc. A free luggage tag is nice, but it's no 10% discount on a room at the Polynesian!

The Disney AAA brochure describes a AAA "Diamond Vacation Card" good for discounts throughout WDW, but doesn't describe what those might be -- anybody know?

I tried (so hard!) to get my DH to agree to let me book a package at the Wilderness Lodge for December 2009 the day the packages came out, thinking we might be able to get one of those AAA discounts, but he says we have to actually go on one trip before planning another! He SO doesn't get it!

American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

The 2008 discounts usually run as follows:

Value Season: 15% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts; 20% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Regular Season: 10% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts; 15% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Peak Season and Summer Season: 10% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at Value and Moderate resorts.

The 2009 discounts seem to run as follows:

Provided you booked your trip with a AAA discount code...there is a discount...always. They will tell you if there is no availability.

There is no specific 'code' for a AAA discount. But you should contact your AAA travel agent to inquire about the room discount. If you have booked a package, there can be a discount on the room portion of the package. It is possible that they are all gone, because, yes there is a limit to them, but if you are flexible as to the resort, there still could be rooms availble with the discount.

For this first trip, I don't really have any flexibility since we're going at the absolute peak season and have our hearts set on theme-park view at the Polynesian. For the next trip, however, I may keep my ear to the ground for any additional discounting...but we're going to start by going at Value season -- I've already priced out a Wilderness Lodge trip for December 2009 and we could basically go for seven days, including park hopper and DDP for what it's costing to go for four days Holiday season at the Polynesian. Now I just have to convince my husband!

that AAA has nothing to do with age?!?!? My kids are 17 and 23 and both belong to AAA, most specifically for the roadside assistance AAA provides. If you are thinking about the club you join when you get "old", that's AARP!!!

Packages booked thru AAA will have a discount but only on the room portion of it.

But in any case, there are X number of rooms available with a discount, and if all are taken, then rack rates would apply.

Also, note that since you cannot stack discounts, if a special promo is out or a PIN code is used, the rate would be exactly the same as booked thru disney.

For the person who mentioned the offers, they are the same offers being given by disney directly.

Other than the discounts on the rooms, the only other perks for Disney with AAA is the discount card which gives you (AFAIK) a 10% at big Disney Store in DD on purchases above $25 or $50, and maybe other stores as well. And, you can get preferred parking at MK.
