What is the most unusual request you've seen someone make (or made yourself) and seen happen?

I don't want to take advantage of anyone but I hear the edges of surprising stories and they are fun to read.

I saw a family of three (mom, dad, boy) request one of everything each night at dinner. That's one of each entrée, soup, appetizer and dessert! If they wanted the same things then there would be two or three of each item but the rest all came as well. At first DH and I thought maybe they were food critics but it soon became apparent they weren't. There was a lot of waste.

Our tablemates on our first cruise were of Indian descent and so were our servers. They were also vegetarian. They requested "whatever you [the servers] eat will be fine". Every night we were treated to family-style fresh made Indian food along with our dinner selections. It was AMAZING. The best Indian food I've ever had.

Apparently, on their previous cruise they asked their servers what the crew ate and their servers mentioned that many of the cooks cooked Indian food for the Indian crew members. Since it didn't add any trouble, the servers on that ship brought them food every night, so they made the same request on our cruise.

Good tip! And anyone can order this on any cruise. :) Just ask for the Indian dinner rotation. They have a set menu (that they don't advertise) and they have veg and non-veg options every night. You need to request it the night before though, so order it on the first night so they'll have it the second night.
According to my husband (who is Indian), the food's OK--there are several items they just don't have, especially bread (they use tortillas :rotfl2:) and certain spices. They have limited resources to work with, so it's impressive what they can do! (And since a large portion of the crew--especially the CMs we never see--are from South East Asia and India, they will always have Indian food available every night on every ship.)

Hmm Indian dinner sounds amazing. We might have to ask about it at our upcoming cruise! But I would definitely miss the naan haha.

This is what we do, because most of the vegetarian food onboard isn't great.

We've never gotten tortillas though. That must have been a one-off thing.

And yep, it only works after the first night. Should we cruise Disney again well make a request for the first night at the one restaurant where I like the veggie dish (DS and DH aren't as difficult with food) and hope for the best.

My friend asked if there was somewhere to get sushi onboard. They said no. The next night, they received a HUGE platter of all kinds of different sushi. It was their first cruise and needless to say, they were quite pleased with their experience!

My daughter fell in love with the Banana bread after our first pirate night. So on our next cruise we mentioned that to our server. Not only did they have a basket of banana bread on our table every night, but even had room service deliver it to our room a couple of times! We kinda burned out on banana bread LOL

Learned from friends of ours that you could ask for the international cheese platter (served at Palo) to be brought to the table in the MDR. He requested it be served every night before dinner and it was wonderful. So now we do the same thing.

If you want naan, cruise carnival. They have the most amazing homemade naan at their Indian quick serve place. It's made fresh in a real tandoor oven. Yum!

I have tried it and I was thinking of this exactly when I posted about the naan bread! :P

I started reading this thread purely for amusement... but now I'm reading it for tips on what to request!! And this is why we all love coming here for answers and info, right?

So, you can ask your MDR server to have this brought as your appetizer in the MDR? Is there an extra charge? This would be AMAZING (I love cheese)

Who knew it was a real thing??? I had no idea. There were DEFINITELY no tortillas served to us. We did have naan.

One DGD really wanted sugar cookies. She has many dietary restrictions. Someone in the kitchen made her wish come true!

That was a wonderful experience! This was on the Fantasy!

Well, it was kind of a request. We were on a back to back Dream cruise and on the second leg, our server asked us if there was anything special we would like for dinner since we were going to be repeating menus from the first leg. This was our 21st Disney cruise, so the server also asked us if there was any special menu item that we liked from any previous cruises.

My daughter mentioned that she loved the Crab Martinique that used to be on the Magic. So, the next night we arrived at dinner to find 7 CRab Martinique appetizers waiting for us.

Now, what made this extra special is that the Chef from the Dream emailed the Chef on the Magic to get the recipe. Since he, had all the ingredients, he made it for us.

The other item that was mentioned was some kind of pomegranate chicken wings that also used to be served on the Magic. One night at dinner, we had a whole plate of them as an appetizer.
