What is the most expensive bill you remember getting at a restaurant?

Recently it was at Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional dining package. $100 per person plus tips! We knew then that we had to cancel most of our dining reservations!

$250 for 11 people almost seems like the answer to the exact opposite question, haha.

I don’t remember exactly but I know there was a comma, which made me 😳. So I guess around $1,000, eek. A restaurant in New York called Per Se.
As a family that goes to Denny's and Black Bear for a celebration meal, the $250 was quite high. Food was amazing and service was awesome, so totally worth it.

We are a family of 5, 3 adults and 2 kids. Our Makihiki character breakfast is probably the biggest bill we’ve had with just our family. Tax and tip was $300/350? Don’t recall the exact amount. Now that DD18 is an adult at Disney but eats the same as DS8 we avoid set cost meals but figured it would be the only time we go to Aulani.

We have paid more to host extended family dinners for celebrations but don’t recall the cost. Those are more so parties to me.

$850 at Victoria and Alberts for 2, we were in the separate room which has extra courses and then we added on a piece of white truffle mushroom that was just flown in that day that smelled and tasted incredible.

Maybe $250 for two which included wine, appetizers, and desserts. We rarely eat at expensive places.

Not counting hosting small events and parties where we’re picking up everyone’s tab, because that sort of seems like a different thing. Just the two of us, it would have been the $300’ish we spent at some signature place in Puerto Vallarta in March of 2020. We got stuck there when the boarders closed. None of us knew what was actually coming at us, so DH ordered his first-and-only Wagu ribeye, just in case the world was coming to an end. ;)

Around $500 for dinner last March at a local high end Italian restaurant. Our two boys went with us. It was good but not worth the price.

I don't remember the total, but my mom and I once ran an educational day camp for children of newly immigrated Dept of Agriculture workers. At the end of the Space and Rocketry module, we took them to Kennedy Space Center. My dad tagged along, and told them to order whatever they wanted for lunch, on him. Four adults, and 15 preteens/teens who grabbed every item they could think of. It was a LOT.

The biggest bill we didn't have to pay: About 20 people from the local theater all went to dinner at Chili's. Tons of entrees, apps, and free flowing alcohol. Right as we finished, a car hit a power transformer outside the restaurant. Total power loss, restaurant couldn't process checks. Manager made an announcement: If you've already paid, thank you. If not, don't worry about it. On the house.

We felt really bad, but what could we do? Those of us with a little cash on us pooled it for a tip, but most people were cashless. I have no idea what that bill would have been, but definitely not cheap.

DH's company treated us to dinner at Per Se many years ago. I'm not sure of the actual cost, but it had to be around $500/pp. There were 10 of us at the dinner.

$400 for my husband and I at V&As in 2012. Good meal, but not good enough to do more than once probably, IMO.

I guess "expensive" is all relative to your personal experience.
We went out to dinner with a friend and her 85 year old mother after Christmas. We went to the restaurant in a Hilton Hotel. Tab for four people came to $100 before tip. Friends mom was just totally flabbergasted that the tab was that high. But she hasn't eaten in a restaurant on a regular basis in years, and I think her daughter pays the bill.
I can't wait to hear what she thinks when she buys eggs because until 3 years ago she had chickens and she considered eggs to be a free gift from her "pet" chickens.

$2500 including tip for myself and 8 employees for our holiday party….

With tip probably around $500. When you have five kids, plus grandparents it adds up quick. Even a meal with all the kids at fast food places was expensive when they were all teenagers. Now we are usually all together once a year if we are lucky and it's worth every penny.

$900 for 2 at Alinea in Chicago including wine and tip. Rated one of best restaurants in country. More of an experience than just dining. Incredible presentations.

Garden Grill at EPCOT! We're not rich and not foodies in the way that would justify expensive places. I'm a pizza and diner gal.

Before adjustment for inflation, we had a bill of close to $300 for four people at the Top of the Cove in La Jolla, CA almost 40 years ago. I think it was Joe DiMaggio at a nearby table. Worth every penny my FIL paid as I remember it 40 years later.

11 people -3 children and 8 adults @ Be Our Guest. Almost $700 with gratuity

Jiko - 2 adults over $300 with gratuity

Same trip.

$800 for dinner for 4 at Fleur de Lys in San Francisco, 1992. This did not include tax or tip. My BIL was a friend of and worked with Thomas Keller, who was the brother of Fleur de Lys' owner and chef, Hubert Keller. We had a magnificent meal, 8 course chef's table prepared specifically for us. Truly an experience.
