What is the meaning behind your screen name?

I am not, and never have been, a Colonel.

(Well, that's not exactly true. More below.*)

My handle is in honor of my undergrad alma mater, Centre College. They were a national football power back in the leather-helmet era, defeating teams such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, Virginia Tech, TCU, Arizona and Ole Miss. Statistician Jeff Sagarin retroactively named Centre the 1919 national champion. Their 1921 win over Harvard, which had not lost a game in 4 years, has been called the greatest upset of the first half-century.

They were known back then as the "Praying Colonels," and even though it was later shortened to just the "Colonels," I (as do most alums) still like the old nickname better.

*--Way back when, I was made a member of the Honorable Order Of Kentucky Colonels. It used to be a very prestigious society, but stopped being especially prestigious around the time I was inducted. ;)

Mine comes from lots of daydreaming about lounging on the beach in a cabana -- with cocktails, of course. Tacked on the frau to say woman.

I realized from a few responses on the boards that most people take it to mean housewife. As long as it doesn't interfere w/ my beach bum daydreams, I just don't care.

iwrbnd -- Have wondered about yours a long time. Never guessed though.

I know, I wish I hadn't picked such a confusing one! I tried adding it in my signature to explain it but I don't think it helps. You can't change your username can you?

I did catch the meaning of it from your signature when I came across something you had posted.:thumbsup2

Mine was an attempt to be both indie and cool, two things I am not. Then I later find out it's also the name of a movie (which I might add I've never seen or want to see).

Denise=my first name
5374=the last four digits of my (then) cell phone number

Creative???? Not me!!!!

Favorite sports teams (Dodgers / Bruins / Lakers ) and I've always liked 101

Sneezie

My married name was Sneeze, but now that I'm divorced, let's just say I suffer from allergies.

Well I am my dds mom so thats where mom comes from.

My dd is a tiny little thing even and always has been - so that's the Tink reference. Even at 9 you would never guess her age just on her size - there are other clues but most people guess much younger than her age.

Now - I did try Tinker Belle's mom but was rejected as that so I put Tinker and Bell together.

All this makes my screen name Tinkerbelle's mom.

Centre holds a special place in my heart. I was in the 1984 group of Governor's Scholars at Centre. Such a wonderful time on a beautiful campus.

My brother used to call me Mari (sometimes my dad would call me Mar - short for Margaret). I just added my maiden name initial and last name initial. That's how I got Maridw.

(Mari is pronounced the same way as Mari Windsor of Windsor Pilates)

Whenever I see your name, I hear it in my head as "Mare-ih-dew".
