What is the free dining?

There was a limited time special that ran from April to June that allowed you to book a Magic Your Way package with a minimum of a 1 day base ticket, add rack rate, and you were able to add the Disney Dining Plan at no cost.

It is used as a promotion to fill rooms during the hurricane season.

And YUP, we're eating free for 11 nights worth of meals. I can't wait!

Yes, FREE! We just returned last week. We were four adults in two rooms at Pop Century. We ate approximately $800 worth of food in four nights and it was free. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and by Thursday night, I had only spent $2 on a Coke. It was unbelievable.

We ate very well.

Breakfast at Crystal Palace
Dinners at Cape May, Chefs de France and Boma. Counter service meals every day that averaged about $14 per person. We also enjoyed assorted snacks throughout our stay.

It was great fun!

We will be at POP is less then 2 weeks. How were the crowds at POP and how were they at the parks?

Did you sign up for bounce back free dining next year?

Don't feel bad it is not in fact free since those on the plan are paying full rack rate for their room.
I don't have the free dining for NOV but I do have the holiday special and the discount on the ROOM portion of my package that just about equals the cost of the dining plan for the two of us, so in essence I have "free" dining too.

There is a bit of a flaw in the logic of people who say that free dining is not free. We will have 8 dining patrons in 2 rooms, 4 whom are adult price and 4 who are child price.

For us to get a better deal on our room, we would have to get $102 savings off of a room that costs $92.50 at Pop. So I guess you could say our rooms are free and we are paying for dining, if you want.

Or you could say we are paying 1/2 price for dining, and 1/2 price for our rooms.

Or you could just say our dining is free. ;)

Especially because we would be buying food whether or not we are on the plan.
With a family our size, it is hard to beat that deal with any sort of room discount. Now, if they want to give us tickets for free, I'd be willing to do that! LOL

The free dining offer is a GREAT deal IF, you stay value season, at a value resort, and you have more than 2 people per room.

If you stay in a deluxe OR are a party of 1 or 2, you can probably do better with another promotion.

As I stated for us it comes out to about the cost of the food plan to have the package room discount. but in either case the dining is not free since the person using it IS paying rack rate for the room, it is in fact just another form of discount and you can look at it however you want as to what the savings represent. I just did not want the OP to think they could book a discounted package and then Have Free dining. Now that to me would be free dining, get your best deal then we throw in free dining.
I am not saying it is not a value or a good deal, just it is not really FREE but rather just another form of discount plan.pirate:

You know to me it really doesn't make a difference if the meals are "free".
I like the ease of DDP,not paying a whit of attention to menu prices, gratuity (even though we usually add more) already included. Does it really matter how you calculate the costs? Room rates vs. DDP...seems like a niggly issue.
