What is the facination with LeCellier?

I am just curious why so many people want to get into Le Cellier. I have eaten there and my opinion is that it is good, but not great.

I agree. Nothing any different than any other steakhouse. Maybe ours was just average that day.......I like Coral Reef better.

For us it's not that it's a 1-ts steak...I really do enjoy the soup, the pretzel bread and the risotto. I love risotto and will go anywhere on property that serves it!!

Well to put it into perspective, most of the TS restaurants at disney are good, not great, but good. It all depends on the service that night, the food that night, your mood when you walk in that night, how it compared to the other TS's you ate at that week...etc etc.

We ate at le cellier the last time we were at disney and it was definitely one of the best restaurants we ate at, coming in after Boma. While my steak was good, what my dh got was GREAT! We also loved the bread sampler and i like the overall mood there. It's darker, quieter, it's a bit relaxing after a long day at the parks.

I have a whole list of restaurants I like much better than Le Cellier - thank goodness because I doubt I'll ever get back in there.

I could never consider that place relaxing or quiet. I was there a week ago. It was loud and claustrophobic. It is small, the tables are on top of each other, and the kid sitting next to me kicked me in the thigh while throwing a fit. If I do it again it will be late reservations only (the mussels and beer are awesome)

i need that option too. We went this past March after reading all the stellar reviews, and it was, in my humble opinion, average at best. Sorry to all the Le Cellier lovers out there, but thats just what we thought. I've got my flame suit on!

The first time I did it was because the Maple BBQ filet and the mashed potatoes (forget what they were other then very good) the beer cheese soup, and the dessert (again forget what it was called and they dont have it anymore). I LOVED that meal, one of the best I personally have had (top 3 or 4 ever for what my taste buds liked). Since they dont have most of that anymore, I really wont go out of my way to eat there unless those items come back...

I didn't vote. I don't eat at Le Cellier because I'm not all that impressed with it. I think that it is so popular is because it is a restaurant in a park with a good steak. The DDP has made it even more popular and hard to get since it is a great value at only 1 TS credit.

It also has an extremely small capacity. That's not an extra dining room, it's a mirrored back wall. Tables for two are in very short supply; most tables appear to be for four or more. There just isn't room for everyone who'd like to eat there.

I voted for other simply because I don't want to eat there.
I've seen the menu and nothing looks great to me. I love a good steak but not with stuff on it. They pour mushrooms on their filet. To me that kills the flavor of the steak and think people who love this filet are people who love mushrooms rather than a fine steak.
For a greak steak I choose Jiko, Yachtsmen or Shulas.

But the more people fight for Le Cell fine with me, the more openings at other places I like to eat. They are happy, I'm happy. Good for everyone.

I just got back from WDW.

Le Cellier was good, but not "broken-hearted if I don't get in" good. I enjoyed my steak.

Grand Floridian Cafe has a very similar menu, and had a better steak, though. If people really want a good steak, and can't get a Le Cellier reservation, they should try GFC. The atmosphere was better, too. It's a much quieter restaurant, with a very pretty view of the lake. Our server was wonderful.

Voted 'other'. Why? I've eaten at LeCellier many times. It's a good value for 1TS. I tend to like my beef pretty plain....pretty much a beef and potatoes girl. So, it fits the bill for me. Yes, there are much better places to get good steak at WDW. I had the most incredible steak at Flying Fish last month. In Dec I'm finally eating at Yachtman, and again at FF.
LeCellier is a product of it's own success. It is a small restaurant. As already mentioned....the tables on top of each other, which makes for a not so wonderful dining experience if there is any kind of commotion going on around you.
I did love the maple filet, and will miss the pretzel bread. But, it's nothing I'm going to lose sleep over.

I do like mushrooms and the mushroom filet sounds yum. But honestly, I'm more of a fish person. It is unusual for me to order steak. If I were to eat at Le Cellier it would be to see what the fuss is about - maybe if we go back to WDW I'll try it but in the meantime there are SO many places I want to try first.

I haven't gone in 5 years. I think it's the most overrated "steakhouse" I've been to & I've eaten there 4 times, so it wasn't just a bad experience.

If I want a good steak I head straight to Ruth's Chris & I don't even need to leave home to go there.
