What is the difference between Westgate Lakes and Spa and Vacation Villas?

I'm asking for a friend of mine. She's fine listening to the timeshare talk for the discount but is confused on the two places. She thought the two places were on the same property but I don't think so from the addresses I found for her.

Which one is the better place? She has three teenagers and her DH. They are going in about 2 weeks.

Thanks

tell her to avoid Westgate at all costs.

these people are sharks....

so I would go with Vacation Villas.

The Vacation Villas she's looking into are also called Westgate Vacation Villa. Are you saying Westgate Lake and Spa is not good and Westgate Vacation Villa is?

What's bad about the Lake and Spa one?

Thanks :)

if both are Westgate - there is another timeshare with Vacation Villas.

What is going to be doing?

WDW only - then Westgate Vacation Villas (this is where I own) - tell her to learn say 'NO' about 10 times - she will need it!!!

Westgate Lake and Spa is closer to Seaworld - so if she is doing SW or US/IOA - then she might like this one better.

Westgate Vacation Villas in my opinion - the villas were a bit bigger than Lake and Spa - although having a Spa on site it a big selling point. If she doesn't use it - or only used it once.

Westgate Lake and Spa - gave a discount for their guest to use the Spa at one time - don't know about now.

The spa had a pretty good bbq place on site, a long walk/jog way by a very large lake. In the past checkin at the spa has been significantly superior to checkin at the WVV. Can't figure out why this is. In the summer they also have an inflatable playground in the lake...big enough objects in it for adults to enjoy. There is an extra fee for it.

I didn't find it to be significantly harder to get to Disney from the spa at the time but that was before I knew that Entry Point Blvd meant that it was the road to the back entrance by Animal Kingdom ...meaning getting to the world...and getting out of it in traffice... is considerably shorter. You just make a left on to Entry Point from the resort and cross over 192...voila!!! no traffic. So WVV is much closer using that entrance.

WVV has a fairly decent Golden Corral for those who don't mind admitting that an all you can eat buffet is their kind of thing. Unfortunately I haven't stayed at either in about 3 years (I've been trading elsewhere).

PS. If you find you just love it BUY RESALE, BUY RESALE, BUY RESALE. There is NO deal they can give you that would match resale. And in some cases you would be paying more money for less benefit that others have gotten in the past. For example they seem to be selling floating weeks now with fixed weeks at a premium to the floating weeks. In the past all weeks were fixed.

Anyway I can think of 3 people, maybe 4 (including myself) without trying who would be willing to sell you their westgate. Don't get me wrong I've pretty much gotten my monies worth out of it and I'm still enjoying it but only because I really worked at it.

I have read here that any time the word "Westgate" is said; RUN THE OTHER WAY. Most people complain about the timeshare spiel you need to attend to get the good rate. The people running the meeting are ruthless sales persons who don't take NO for an answer. Tell your friend Good Luck, you may never see her again! :rotfl:

Do a search for Westgate Vacation Villas--there have been some pretty major horror stories on here about their timeshare spiel.

We stayed there without the timeshare talk being required and it still is not somewhere I would ever go back to. Our unit had a bad smell that they would not do anything about other than come mop the kitchen floor with bleach. They tested the fire alarms in our building without warning people that they were going to. The kiddie pool was disgusting and brown and we had this scary looking diseased looking duck who hung out right outside our patio door all week.

My DS who was 2 at the time, still refers to WVV as "the stinky FL house" :rotfl:

I totally HATE Westgate. I am still fighting to get reimbursed for my STOLEN stuff from Westgate. These establishment just has No class. Their are way better properties to stay in than Westgate.

we did the westgate timeshare spiel and I cannot agree more. RUN, RUN, as fast as you can. The people are just plain obnoxious. Had one woman basically tell us to our faces that were stupid not to buy. She then ranted off like a little child becuase we didnt' want to sign right then and there. Way too much pressure, even for my hubby handles it well.
