What is the difference between Vistana Resort and Vistana Villages?

I've seen some posts and realize that they are 2 different things, but not sure what is what.

We are staying at the Villages in November. Is that an okay place or not?

The Villages is a newer resort. No old sections to be concerned about. Smaller and probably not as many activities. The landscaping won't be as mature. I haven't stayed there, but think you'll find it very nice.

Sheila put it quite well.
In addition, I don't believe there are any onsite restaurants at the Villages either ----though I have not stayed there. The main Vistana resort has 2 sit-down restaurants, as well as a walk-up area(the Cascades Grill) and also a Pizza Hut on site.
The main Vistana resort is a little closer to the WDW parks, while the Villages is closer to the Sea World/Uni general area. Just so you know, you are permitted to use all the facilities at the main Vistana resort even if you're staying at the Villages. Have a nice vacation :flower:

Can someone post the web site for the vistana resort? I can't find it.
Thank you

Just to let you know, we stayed at the Vistana Villages June 2003 - the place is superb - nice and quiet and a great escape from all the hustle and bustle of Orlando when you need it. Agreed there isnt much on site but there is a deli for all the necessities and the pool and rooms are out of this world (especially the 2 bedroom suites). IMHO - looked at my friends photos of the Vistana Resort when I returned and thought the Villages was head and shoulders above. Don't hesitate just count the days before you go !!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies. That helps a lot!

Sandshal, that's good to know. We've always stayed onsite, except for once at HIFS, so I was a little nervous. Thanks!

Stayed at the Villages last September and will again in 6 weeks!

Its awesome. It's only about 5 minutes further than Resort and so much nicer.

That's great!

Thaggie, it looks like we'll be leaving as you're getting there! Have a great trip!

I've stayed at both. The villages are nicer and I thought it was a nice size. We play tennis and the courts are off by themselves. The landscaping was beautiful and the pool was great. they had some fun activities like the "dive-in" movies. The Vistana resort is nice as well but I like the villages better.
