What is the deal with Spoodles?

I really had no idea what this restaurant was about. I didn't even want to eat there, but since we were staying at BWV and I didn't want to go to EPCOT for dinner, we decided to try it.

Oh my! It was delicious. DH and I both had the filets and the dish was so good, we went back the next night and had them again!! Now keep in mind that DH is a bit of a food snob (he recently was treated to some very high-end dining in Las Vegas - can you say $800 bottles of wine?? - and he was very pleased with the food here. The kids had the standard chicken fingers and they were happy. When the dust settled, our bill was only a few dollars more than the slop we had been fed at 1900 Park Faire.

My question is this: Why is this restaurant not mentioned more often? The food was yummy, the restaurant was vibrant, the location good. Am I missing something?

I think people may shy away because of the genre of food. Mediteranian fare sounds exotic.

But this is our favorite place and our kids beg to go back.

We were just there 1/30-2/2 and dined there for breakfast and dinner. I had a tapas only dinner (chile oil shrimp, lamb cigars, and 4 cheese flatberead) perfect change of pace from a large entree type dinner.

We usually stay at an EPCOT resort and Spoodles is one of our most favorite restaurants! We have always had good food and service there. Glad you liked it.

We LOVE Spoodles!
The flatbreads are fantastic!
We've dined there many times and have never been disappointed.
They also have a very nice selection of wines available by the glass.
It's a great restaurant!

We too love Spoodles. I didn't even know it was there until a man told me about it just prior to our trip in 1999. I was looking for a nice place, that was quiet and not too expensive for breakfast. He told me about this one and said not a lot of people go there, so it's often one of the quietest places to grab a nice breakfast in the am. He was not mistaken.

Back then they had an all-you-can eat buffet and it was out of this world. It had items for even the pickiest eaters, yet for us adventurous types it fit the bill perfectly.

It looks like they no longer have the buffet. But we are still planning this for breakfast in Oct. since the food, service and restaurant itself was so wonderful.

We really liked our visit to Spoodles too! Very good!

I actually had read quite a bit of bad reviews about the place here on the Dis before we tried it and I think it was in the list of 10 WORST restaurants at WDW by readers reviews. However it was one of the only places I could get our party of 12 seated together for a Thanksgiving meal so I took the ps and was very worried about the visit until we got there - we had a great time and the food was delicious.

Glad to hear so many others think the same!

Their flatbreads are very good! (We had the 4 cheese and garlic one). Hubby had their Fettucinni it was very good. One time I had their scallop gratin and another time I had something that isn't on the current menu. I think it was a special, I want to say it was pork or veal but I just can't recall. Each time I've eaten there though, I've always had a good meal!

We had the 4-cheese flatbread as well as the scalllop gratin and the food was awesome.

Our waiter was also quite knowledgable about wines and taught us quite a bit!

Spoodles is one of our favorite WDW restaurants. You really have to be willing to try some new things. The food is generally on the spicy but flavorable side. Remember you can't always judge a book by its cover. Plenty of the wierd sounding food is made with quite normal ingredients. Don't be afraid to ask your waiter whats in something. The best thing is that Spoodles allows you to make a meal of ordering several appetizer size portions of things and splitting them with others at your table. It's a great way to try many different items and not just getting one thing and taking the chance you'll hate it. Chances are something you dislike will be something that somebody else loves and vice versa.

I like Spoodles too!

On our last "grown-up" trip to Disney, my DH and I got to the resort to late to go to the parks, but we were hungry. We walked to the Boardwalk from Swan/Dolphin and wandered into Spoodles after checking out the menus up and down the boardwalk. We ate light that night, but had an excellent meal.

I would go there again. (I too miss their old breakfast buffet.)

I also love Flying Fish for a fancier meal.

We loved the breakfast pizza at Spoodles last June. My son and I split one our first day there, but after that we each had our own since we both went crazy over this simple but fabulous tasting meal.
The rest of their breakfast options were also very, very good. It's a nice quiet place to have breakfast and gets you off on a good note to start your day.
We are planning several breakfasts there on our next trip and will try dinner also, especially since reading all the above boasts about their dinner.

We tend to order way too much food in WDW restaurants, but I never feel stuffed after eating in Spoodles (unless we have dessert!). You can control portions better by just ordering tapas, versus ordering an appetizer PLUS an entree. I think it's more fun to try lots of different foods.

Don't forget to get a pitcher of Sangria!
