Still private owned but heavily corporate controlled now with pricing Giant Eagle. One owner retired and the store he managed went back to corporate however that works. Ziggy still has the store by the mall which I drive past on the way home from work.

Outrageously expensive but the only place to get quality food. All the past year or so of the beef and chicken costs rising astronomically here on this board by most of you still hasn't risen to the pre-pandemic cost I had. $5.99-6.99 ground beef isn't a pandemic or inflation thing. It's been a 2010-2023 thing for me.

The latest is pork chops. I choked when I saw $6.49 for center cut pork chops couple days ago.

Publix . . . But that is pretty much the case for a lot of Floridians. There used to be two independent grocers in town, but they closed several years ago. We have a super Target and a Walmart about five miles away. We do still have one Winn Dixie hanging on, but three new Publix stores have opened within that five mile or so radius of my house. Mine is across the street from the entrance to our neighborhood.

HEB. Actually, I don't think there's a grocery chain other than HEB within about 50 miles. They pretty much have a monopoly around here.

Kroger is a couple miles away and Aldi is almost right behind it. Then there is a Lidls (?) off to the side but I've only been there twice in all the years it has been there. I usually drive about 6 miles to Walmart & the Kroger close to it.

The closest is a local family owned grocery store that has been there for over 100 years now. Only .3 miles away.

I would love a Kroger nearby! That's one thing I love about going to Hilton Head-we get to shop at Kroger!
And we also have a Walmart in the next town over. I just didn't think of it when you said "grocery store".
